I like that pilot But I am only going to use a bust for this one and thanks again for the comments.

Well Since my last post I have finished up the rudder/tailwheel installation and controls.
I don't like the control horns because it so hard to get all the hole to line up so I make my own out of 3/8" dowel. I just drill a hole through the rudder and glue in a 3/8" dowel and sand flush. I then drill and tap the dowel for a 6-32 Machine screws. I put one 1-1/2" through each side and cut off the excess. I then install the heavy duty alieron control connectors. ( don't remember the exact name).
I then figured out where i needed exits for my pull-pull cables. I always use coated leader wire and crips. I loop the wire and crimp it direct the the connectors at the rudder and the tail wheel arms. I then run the wires into the open fuse. I don't use tubes to run the wire into. I then run the wires throught 4-40 rigging couplers with clevises on them. I run the tail wheel wires as close to the servo center as possible because you need very little tail wheel movement. I connect to rudder out toward the ends. now I have good control of both the rudder and tailwheel...
I then took the retract cover and made a small hole where the tail wheel would stick through and laid it over the are with the tailwheel retracted. I was then about to work a little at a time until I had teh opening just large enought to get the tail wheel through. I plan on using screws to hole this down with so i can get to this area if needed...

Hey Ty, Have you thought about maybe after it is flying and you need something to do maybe some gear doors for the tail wheel? I am throwning this idea around. Set them up like the tail wheel doors on the Top Flight ARF Big Beautiful Doll 1/5 th scale P-51. I have a couple projects I need to finish up but have started repainting my P-40, Thanks to ACE hardware and their camo pack of kylon paint. I will be flying mine with an electric set up so fuel proofing wont be any concern.

Hey Ty, concerning post #12. I always install the control horn backwards on flaps. You will then be able to get a lot more throw before the horn bottoms out on the wing...for what it's worth. Godd luck

Thanks for the info Jeff. I did not make any changes because I did get the 2" travel the instructions called for.

I traced off the nose art on both sides of the fuse. I figured I would start out with the beak . I used the 1/8" 3-M tape and then masking tape. It turned out good. I will let it dry overnight before trying any masking over it.

I am so impatient, I could not wait. So I when ahead and finished out the birds head except for the eye. I have to go get some white paint. I did find out the factory paint job is very slick and you must sand it before applying any paint. I masked off the back side of the heed and sanded the whole thing. I painted all the red. Once again I was going to let it set overnight. I could not wait again.
The birds head is totally outlined in black. So the other day I bought one of the Testor black paint pens. They work great. The paint flows well and I free handed all the outlines. I figure the guy that painted the original one could not have been perfect....

It appears that i have most all the major part put together and now will work on finishing it up.
I went ahead and installed the airlines for the retracts and run the servos wires throught the wheel well area. I use some GOOP to hold them in place. I held them in place with pins until the glue dried. I then Installed the wheel well covers Using screws so it couls be removed if needed later.

I then Installed the retract servo and valve. I had a Robart in the drawer so I just used that. I also installed the airtank up in the top of the fuse also using GOOP. I have trail balanced the plane and I may need to place both batteries behind the wing....

I don't know if others have the same problem I do. But sometimes trying to cut a canopy out I have trouble seeing the lines. So what I have been doing lately is using 3M trim tape and following the outline. This gives me a good edge that I can see when I cut out the canopy...
