Paul,
So your flying this P-40 at 23 pounds? And it sounds like you like the way it is flying. How about the landings? Are you using flaps on take off and or landings, daaa, I am sure your using them on landings. Sure would like to hear a flying step by step report. I am about to finish up a Mid West AT-6 as an electric conversion and the Sky Shark P-40 is sitting there just hopping I'll get started on her. With going electric we oftin times come out a little bit heaver than a gas flown plane would weigh. from Don the electric guy

Ok I have everything on the plane but the exhaust stacks , and and the cockpit area done. I went ahead and applied the markings to one side so you could get a view of an almost finished product. I don't know if I mentioned it before but i switched out the motor and put a Brisson 3.2 on it instead. It was an older enigne that was crashed but fixed. It runs really well. It turning a 20x10 at 7000 rpm's.

Here are some new pic's and a boring vid of an engine test run......

I wanted to keep the footprint of the exhaust stacks as small as possible. Plus I did not want ot mess up my paint job with alot of glue running out around the edges of the ABS. So I filled the exhaust stacks with foam and allowed that to swell up and dry. I then sanded it down flush with the bottom and then I preped the area I was applying the exhaust by drill a hole at each stack location to allow glue to make a rivet effect when I glued it on. I then sanded the area .

I went ahead and prepainted each exhaust. I then took 5 minute epoxy and applied the stack....

Looking great! Don't forget to open up a hole in the carb intake on top of the cowl

You have to allow the faom to cure about 24 hours. If you cut it or sand it too early it will shrink and won't be flush with the bottom...

Hey Ty, the motor run up with the RPMs at the end helps me alot,Thanks for the information. When you were putting in the retracts did you beef up the wood at all? Maybe some extra epoxy on the joints or do you think they are tough enough as is?

They look pretty stought to me. I always just tap into the wood for my screws and my drill bit was in wood for a full 1" it felt like to me. I didi not beef up or add anything...

I got my pilot in this last week and i got him painted. I decided not to do alot to the cockpit area. Still trying to keep the weight down. It is perfectly balanced right now...

Here is a pic inside the fuse. Everything is finished . It is ready to fly. I did change out the 32 oz tank supplied and put in a 24 oz tank. I did not need to carry around all that extra fuel....
