i bought economy bird, not because i'm a cheap! it saves alot of time. i'm just using it as a frame to work with. first thing was to pull the fabric off the wings. the top is fully sheeted but some bays have to be sheeted so i can glass. the flaps do not go under the fuse like the real one so that has to be changed. the elevator is far from scale but can be fixed by adding a block and continuing the shape where they left it off. all my linkages will be concealed so i have no need for the hardware kit that they leave out. the puke green they use is not appealing to me. other than paint, hardware and a spinner you get everything else. so it's worth the saving's. i've always wanted companys to sell like this maybe it's catching on. it is an extremely well built airplane. the best i've seen yet to be an arf. they must pay their little chinese girl more to build this one. the fuse is a little thin but no big deal, where it's wavy if you look at Pictures of the real one it's not very straight either. i'm going all out with this one so it will be lengthy. i'm doing little things right now while in the middle of other projects like the trim tabs on the ailerons and elevators. so when i actually start i'll be able to assemle it and do the detail. i'm probably going to do a thread, only because of the amount of scale changes i'm making on it. it will have the keleo exhaust and solo three bladed prop. we are building gear doors and the cowl flaps are going to be functional too! something else neat too is on the real one the top of the wing is the floor of the cockpit so i'm going to add the scale looks there too on the top of the wing. the plane i'm modeling after is dick daggett's PEEP AND WEEP, an a.v.g. "N" model that was shot down. he lives about an hour from me and i get to meet him next week, and have a talk. the local museum is getting us in touch, should be fun! jeff.

so are the holes drilled for the alerons and I am assumin that the robart style hinges do not come with it? The budget model does not mean that you have to drill any holes for the the hinges right?

it is pre drilled and it does come with the robart wanna- bee's. i'm not going to use them, one already broke just trial fitting the flaps. the little ones for the rudder are a joke. it did come with an instruction manual, desert decals, and sulivan pull-pull kit. everything on the model has a good fit. the cowl is tight and straight, the ailerons and flaps line up good in the nuetral position the wing saddle is tight with no gaps. call me picky but thats what i look at in a plane. this is defintely well worth 400 bucks. by time you bought a glass fuse, plans, cowl, canopy, short kit and wood to complete and all the extra glass parts this plane has you'll spend 800 bucks or more then have to build it. the landing gear covers are a little big for scale but i think it can be changed. the yellow p-40 is right on, so i may buy those and try to see if they are a better looking. you can see in the pic's the elevator and how it doesn't curve back to the fuse.

Hey Ty,
Good video and an even better job of flying that boy for the first time out. I have to hand it to you..........low passes on the maiden flight is just pure confidence in skill and equipment!
I noticed in a few frames what appear to be homes off to the right of the flightline. Man, that's flying close to civilization! Is this a club field or private property?
Take care, Ty, and thanks for sharing your experiences.
