Qestion

Just got my friends P40 done now I am trying to do the CG. I mounted all servo's in the mid section, I am using the Revolution 50 and Sierra gear. I set the plane upside down with gear up and set the CG machine to 3 3/4 from the leading edge and next to the fuse and WOW is it tail heavy I mean very tail heavy. Has any one run into this ? How much weight have you guys added.

Thanks

me too! i just got my gene barton spinner which is a good deal heavier than the one i had. i've had to move everything to behind the fuel tank. this is why i haven't flown mine yet. also waiting on my keleo exhaust in hopes of more weight. i havent figured out what i'm going to do about all of this yet.

I also have the Sierra gear in mine and moved all the servos forward along with all batteries. I still had to add about 16oz to balance using a DA 50.

I have heard that someone did put a set of the Robart 148 into his plane.
You would have to cut out the current rails and install new one as the
width of the Robart 148's are much wider than the mounting rails in the plane.
I think the 148's are 1-3/4 width between rails and the rails in the plane are only
1-1/4" between.
I do know that the rails are mounted to the current ribs, so you would have to
remove and replace two ribs.

Hope this helps.

I am thinking about getting this plane and I have a Chinesse 50cc that turns a Xoar 22x8 prop at 6700 RPM producing 24lbs of thrust. The engine is only 3lbs 10oz and I was wonder what engine you guy's are using and what your weight's are. It look like I'll have to add some weight to balance the plane, but I plan one istall all batteries and servo's as far forward as possible. Thanks for any help you can give

Do so at your own risk! They're dumping these things on Ebay, for less than $200.00, and when theyre gone that's it. Skysahrk also has a bad rep for not standing behind they're products, and treating customers bad. I should know I was one, look up the "Skyshark" thread in the Giant Scale 3D section.

I have had a good experience with SkyShark myself. The plane is a good flyig ARF and if you can find one for $200 thats a steal and you better pick one up!!!!!!

agree , with typical mods needed in any arf , this is one bargain at anything under $350, try building one at that price or even buying a short Zirolli kit , the fuse alone will run you $275 if your lucky

I just looked on e-bay and there is no P-40 anywhere near the size of the Skyshark P-40 even listed. I guess they are all gone already.

Looks like I'll have to pay 400.00 or more if I really want this bird. It looks so good I am having a hard time looking other places for a P-40 in this size. I want a nice looking plane for my brilleli 46GT I plan to use.

They will not fit. They are too long on the body and you would have to cut the spar completly out. I looked at it and tried there was no way.

Just left the RC Model Air Show in Toledo. Skyshark was there and I ordered one of the full kits for $400.00 shipped to my door. I hope to have it by next weekend. I have a great running Brillelli 46GT engine I plan to use. How much weight are you guy's needing to balance this plane using a DL-50 or DA-50? The Brillelli 46GT weigh's just a little less than these 50cc engines

I talked to Charles at Century Jet Retracts and they have a set of retracts made for this plane at $400.00 including the air tank kit. They also have a retact tail wheel I will be getting.
