The tracks I run I consider tight and technical. I did not like the JP-1 on it and seemed to make my STS D21B stock and modified engine run a little hotter. I have no problem with keeping up with the high dollar engines. Once again pipes are like many things the one I like someone else may not do to the way a person drives and is way I say pipes have a lot to do with personal preference. j_blaze is the 053 an XTM pipe and is it the one Redcat Nick is running? Lets all so keep in mind we are running a 21, 5 port and I am guessing Redcat Nick is running the 3 port 28. As stated above I do have the STS 3 port 28 in my Savage but do not run it near as much as my Hyper 8 (soon to be a 8.5). Matter of fact I have not race my Savage since putting the STS in it only went to a few practices.

Here check out how a tuned pipe works http://www.bukupower.com/animatecorrect.aspx

if you get a low end pipe for a engine that has all its power in the mid or top then the engine gona run bad, or not the best. you get a pipe for thats best for the engine you run then regear to the track, like I run on a tight track, and I'm running a STS 21B which has good mid-top so I got a JP-3 which is a good mid-top pipe and I geared for the track.

where does the sts have its power? jb, the break-in worked great. i had it geared for the track, 12/46 13/45 and it was ripping. i was just comparing it to some of the other buggies out there that day ($300+ engines too). also the engine was on its 10-15 tanks too, still waking up some more. tomorrow i'll have the bug and trug for some good hours of fun. changed all oils today and washed up good too.

well, from what I can tell (I have never had a $300 engine to campare it with) but to me, the STS has good bottom but stronger in the mid-top.

I have an OS V Spec and race with many that have high dollar engines and the STS is very competitive. I run series races so I race many different racers at different tracks. Now if you where to drag race them on a 300 foot straight away might be different but this is not the type of racing I do. I have no problem with my STS D21B in any of the ranges low, mid or top. Matter of fact I have many I race with are very impressed with how my STS engines keep up. I will be running a new STS D21T MKII the beginning of next season.

I run with guys that run Picco’s and still have no problem keeping up now weather it is a EVO 2 I cannot say. I run with people running the OS V speck speed as well. For the money I do not think you can beat a STS D21B and the verdict on the STS D21T MKII is not in yet as I have not had a chance to race it and are very competitive engines. There are many good engines out there.

we have a modded STS .21B....Integra races with one sometimes.... actualy he's won a couple of A-Mains with it.....Anyways if you drove the Picco back to back with the STS you'd see the difference..its alot bigger then your anticipating..... I know you like STS alot, but i honestly think you'd really apreciate the value in the Picco engine.... Yes its $100 more then the STS, but as soon as you open up the Picco i'd bet you agree with me that for the $$$ the Picco is a better value...... I mean a Picco P7R makes as much power onthe dyno as a STS 30..the STS .21 is nowhere near that power level... I wouldn't lie to you over this, i strongly feel you would appreciate a few other brands as much if not more then you appreciate the STS mills.

The EVO 2 is a GREAT engine and the low cost makes it even better!! My modified version of the EVO2 does make more power then a STS 30 but does it with a smoother power curve that is just awsome for the track! And the engine also gets GREAT run times even after a stage 2 modification. I cant see anyother engine ATM having a better bang for the buck then the EVO 2. The STS engines are good for the $ as well. But have been known to have alot of issues... But when u get a good one they do very well for a 100$ engine!

Anybody using a Jammin JP4 pipe on a STS .30 ENGINE need some feed back. I've been running the 0702's with good performance, just bought a new JP4 to try. "Pipe of the month club"

Kemo, most likely the priceing of the new S21T will be close to the same as the MKii if not more.

Thnks for posting pics of the sleeve; I love teh recing ticks they thew into it. I hope STS was wise enough to put an timing profile to exploit that port configuration and the other racing tricks I see on those parts

why the different venturis? wouldn't that cut back on power to go from 8mm to 6mm? is it maybe for fuel economy? not sure, i took mine out after porting sleeve and its a screamer.

Many engines come with different ventures like the OS V Spec as well as many others. This is so you can fine tune for different tracks, as all out power is not all ways good. My STS D21T MKII came with the same two ventures. On my STS 3 port 28 it did not come with any.
