I think for every 1,000ft you lose 1% or your HP

Air pressure at 16500 ft is 55% of sea level so that would be just over 3% loss for every 1000 ft.

Thanks j blaze i did hear air coming from the front bearing is there anything i can do to fix it. brian

depends, if its leaking through the bearing, its toast. if its leaking from between the case or shaft you can put a very small amount of silicone in between there and hope and prey. i was lucky, mine was leaking in between the shaft and bearing. i used a tooth pick and dabbed some rtv on the inside of the bearing and a bit in the opening of the case. let it set overnight and ran it the next day, flawless for the last gallon or so. it can be done.

How to get the bearing out is probably your next question. take a clean paper towel and completely disassemble the engine (if you are comfortable with that, new bearing or not its gotta get done) , you should end up with the carb and screw holder piece, head, piston, sleeve and backplate. don't forget the oring inside the case in the carb opening. just use a very small screwdriver, like for glasses, and wedge it out of its groove. once you are down to case and 2 bearings, check for any other parts that i may have missed on this list. turn oven on to 250 degrees and set the engine inside for 10 minutes. when the timer goes off, holding the engine over a bowl of water tap the front bearing from the back with a large screw driver, it won't take much, few taps should get it out. be careful to tap the metal part of the bearing and not the rubber seal. once the bearing is out, put it in the freezer (with an ice cube on top) and get out the rtv silicone and tooth pic. dab a hairline bead of rtv in the inside corner of the bearing "notch" in the front of the case careful not to get any in the transfer hole on the top left of the opening. once thats done, get out the bearing and put a small bead of rtv on the inside hole of the bearing. barely enough to see it. the bearing should be ice cold and the engine very hot right now. take the case out and pop the bearing back in. then quickly insert the shaft again , let it all air cool now. after about a half hour reassemble the engine and prey some more. try it out and hopefuly it works. thats what i did and so far so good. warm up race next week and then state race in 2 weeks, can't wait.

GOOD LUCK. its hard to find sts parts i hear, but i'm pretty sure its a standard size bearing.

It's going in my new Hyper 8.5. I also ordered the JP-4 to try with it. I will post results later.

Yes keep us posted on how you like the S engine. I have had a STS D21T MKII new in the box for a while so that is what I am going to run in my new Hyper 8.5 for now. If Mark decides to stay in the STS engine business I would like to try the S engine. I would like to know what the difference in the fuel economy between the S and MKII. The D21B fuel economy is very good just hope the MKII is close.

5-ports, I think trevpjm has them for $176 or something like that. also the S21T has a 16mm stroke instead of the 16.8 like the rest of the STS engines so it should rev higher.

trevpjm, who do you order your STS stuff from?
