Pretty much. The tsunami only has 4 shocks instead of the 8 on Volcano.

So:: body, Tires, Wheels, 2 speed, shock qty are pretty much the only differences.

Due to the TOS in this blog I will only say get over your problems with your very unexpensive Tsunami because I as a person who sells other so called High end Truggies have had more problems with them than my test tsunami's

Arty, the bell and the spring are the only real problems with the redcats. I really like the tsunami, you should have a good truck once you replace these. i am very happy with mine and i have many, many rc's.

Looking for help I have a customer that bought 3 Tsunamis from me and has had problems with all 3. He has gone through the spur gears on all 3. What is causing this. I am trying to get him replacement parts, but if they are going to go too, not sure what to do. Is this happening because of the Clutch bell.

Help Please.

Thanks what about the clutch spring does that have to be replaced too? What exactly is happening that is causing the spur gears to go? Is there a problem with the mesh?

no, the stock clutch bells are out of round and eating the gears. i would suggest to change the spring to the traxxas 4146x spring while you have the bell off.

This is for a customer so if I wanted to send him replacement parts so his truck would stop eating the spur gears could I send him just the replacement clutch bell you linked to, or does it have to include the two gears you linked to also.

you need the clutch bell and the 2 gears, 3 pieces all together.

He guys Im a new tsunami owner - had it about 1 month probably 1/2 gallon of fuel throught it. Its a great truck for the money. I have had no real issues other than a screw coming out and causing me to through a dogbone. I did find it and all is good. The only complaint i have is that this jumps like pig. I have changed out the springs for those from Associated( tried them all red, silver. gold....) and all it does is nose over regardless of the throttle technique used to get the nose up. The stock springs were too bouncy even with 40 wt oil in the shocks. Anybody had luck getting one to jump clean?

Also has anybody put in a slipper clutch? We have local indoor high traction track and slipper would be great to have.

you could fit the single speed trans in it from the volcano, its a direct fit, then change the clutch bell, here's the links for what you would need. i am going to swap mine out for a single speed too

this has a slipper set up:

http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/servlet/the-200/Hpi-17-tooth-vented/Detail

http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/servlet/the-110/Moderate-gear-set/Detail

this is a direct drive single speed:

http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/servlet/the-226/clutchbell-and-diff-kit/Detail

either one will work with the tsunami

Thanks for the suggestion but the single speed is not all that I am looking for. Right now I have just tightened the shift screw down so it wont shift - the track is too short to shift and you lose too much punch. If you have done this did it added any punch coming out of the corners by allowing higher rpms? This truck is great but rather doggie until it gets moving. I am running about 1/8 turn back from lean so I still have plenty of smoke and the temps not that hot (spit tested). I did cut out the front window for ventilation and it made a big difference.

I know that this truck is a good copy of the HPI MT of few years ago all the way down to the limited carb (check the opening of your carb in full open at it is only open about 90% quick fix for added boost). From what I tell several of the past from the HPI should be a direct fit and a higher quality. I have never seen plastic bend like this stuff does - its good and bad. Have you had any luck using HPI parts for repairs?
