Why do I want the Axe over the Blade CP Pro? Now keep in mind. First time RC heli guy (fly the real thing and from what I hear remotes are harder) So. Fire away. Why should I pick the Helimax at fifty bones less??

I picked the Axe as my first heli because it is larger than Blade and looked more robust. The people at my LHS said the Axe flys very good for this type of entry heli. Axe is only heli I have ever hovered and I can not comment on any other heli. I have about 30 flights so far and have had no trouble from heli but stock battery only last about 5 min. The fifty dollars did factor in also. I know for a fact that I will upgrade to a more precission machine later on and so why spend fifty extra. Also I can use that fifty extra to purchase a better battery. BTW in those 30 flights I have only had to replace one set of blades and a flybar stabalizer due to learning how to hover.

the axe cp is a great heli for a first timer i started with the blade cx and wished i had started with the axe but they werent out yet

the axe is bigger in size than the cp pro which give more stability in flight also

everyone i have talked to about the cp pro says the tail doesn t hold well its always searching unless you upgrade to ag 90 gyro to lock it in

the axe tail holds nice and solid and once you get the hang of hovering its very stable not twitchy like the cp pro

some have said the cp pro is one of the hardest to learn on because its so twitchy where the axe is not nearly that way

don t get me wrong im not saying the axe will fly as easily as a blade cx you still have to fly it but it requires way less work than the cp pro

i think for a first timer you would be real happy with the axe the learning curve is a lot less than the cp pro
and once you can fly the axe you will be ready for a t rex 450 se lol

Never flown an RC heli, but have flown a real one, huh? The major difference in the 2 besides the $50 is the Blade CP Pro uses a Bell-Hiller swash plate. This uses a direct connection from the swash to the blades and makes the chopper react faster. Great if you're a pro, not so great if your a beginner. Makes it twitchy. I'm an Axe onwner so I'm biased, but maybe with real chopper experience you'll have no problem and start out learning inverted hovering.

Let us know what you get and how you do either way.

Good Luck.

Yeah Im not thinkin flying a real helo will make a difference. Straight and level flight in the R22 isnt so bad. S turns etc not so bad. Hovering is a PITA. Ive only flown the Axe in the sim at the LHS and was all over the place. I did get into a hover for about 10 sec but that was my big moment in the run. Most times I was all over the place.

As for the real flying I hope to have my CFII within the year. That way other people get to pay for my seat time as I teach them until I can build my hours to a cushy job. Tho at 200/hr its not a cheap gig so not sure Ill get it done by then unless I hit the lotto.

i just bought an axe ez. i havent had much time to work with it yet, but after charging the battery and installing it and the training gear i gave it some power. it seems like it wants to drift backwards alot, even with the trim as foreword as possible. the instructions dont have the best info on putting the battery in, is there a possibility that i have it in backwards and this is affecting my weight and balance being off, or am i doing something incorrect. any advice would be awesome because i am very interested in being able to fly it around my house and land where i want to. thank you
