Im just wondering what you guys would recomend for motors. This is my second plane as I have outgrown the trainer. Not wanting to spend the money on a 4 stroke for now. I know that Evolution makes a .61NT that would obviously fit but am wondering if you guys know of some other options. Also was wondering if anyone has used the Evolution 1. Nx and if it would fit in the Hanger 9 P 51 .60 it says it fits most .61 to .90 planes.

do you want to run it inverted? or is mounting at 9 oclock ok, with a pitts style muffler? Inverted means you will likley need to lower the fuel tank a bit.

Well this is the first motor that ive mounted so im not to sure yet. The plane should be here any day. This is really my first one putting together besides the trainer which had the motor mounted and the servos and everthing in it. I still need to by a new radio since mine is a 4 channel. Also wondering what servos are good for these .60 size planes and if I will need servos with more torque if I go with a bigger motor. Are the JR 537's good for these planes I know they are fairly cheap.
Any info you guys can give me would be helpful since Im new at this.
Thanks..

Hello do yourself the Favor and buy the Saito 100 4 stroke. It is the perfect engine for this plane. It will fit nicely no hacking up the cowl, you get that great 4 stroke sound, and it is a very powerful engine. You can us this in alot of different planes if you get into 3-d flying. I have the Hangar-9 P-51 and there P-40 I went with an OS 91 in the P-40 recomended by the LHS owner. He told me they are easier to deal with and more reliable, nonsense if you have to, get somone to help you tune the Saito after you break it in properly and you will have no problems. I have three Saito 4 strokes now and I love them I probably will not buy any more 2 strokes except maybe something cheap for a beater plane definatley not a plane like the P-51 that you have to invest some$$ in. If I could do over I 100% would have went Saito 100 in the Warhawk It would have saved that great looking cowl alot more. The JR 537 servos are fine for these planes. Buy yourself a flight pack from JR and save the money of buying everything seperate. I belive there pack with the 537 comes with a 1100mah battery and a seven channel rec. Keep in mind you will need to buy a retract servo for the landing gear. I got my Hobbico servo to work which is basically a renamed Hitec they cost $30.00 compared to the $60.00 JR it may be a good idea to go JR from the start with this then you know you have plenty of torque I have also been told the Hitecs go through gears for some people. Make sure to go through the thread on this plane lots of good info (reinforce your firewall etc.) I do not belive the landing gear is as bad as alot say I was told they updated it since the first kits so do not feel you have to replace it like alot of people say. Last thing Buy the Saito 100 it is worth the investment now. You will be happy you got it down the road.
