Has anyone tried to Static Balance the elevators and rudder of their Carden or other large scale model. I had the idea of adding lead shot to the rudder and elevator of my 35% Carden Extra on the leading edges (the part that is in front of the hinge line). I have a BVM Sabre and it has lead balance on the rudder. Would it help to reduce flutter?.
I think all full size aircraft have their surfaces static balanced.

Any comments?

Moving the cg forward on controll surfaces will greatly reduced wear and tear on servos etc., but DO NOT balance them perfectly it can cause flutter...... lighten the surfaces behind the cg and you can add weight in the counter balances but keep the cg slightly behind the hinge-line
