Bom dia...
For something different, there are a couple of organizations for vintage model boats and they have some plans posted.

One is Britain's Vintage Model Yacht Group. From their home page menu, the Resources item displays a link to their Plans page... there you'll find at least half a dozen plans for vintage pond yachts of various sizes and various times in history.

Not me, I'm just lucky enough to have been friends with one or two great Brasilieros!

I found full plans for the Star45 out there yesterday... I've looked for them for a while. It's something a little different, too (different from what I mostly see, anyway). It's a hard-chine design and the full-size boat is an Olympic racing class, and you find a lot of famous names among Star sailers.. Dennis Connor, Paul Cayard, ...

Anyway the Star45 is a 45 inch boat that looks like it will be pretty quick and easy to build. Plans are posted in the files section of the Star45 group on yahoo... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Star45/ They're the only plans I've seen on the web that include drawings of actual parts... locations, material sizes, the whole thing. The drawings show traditional scle-type standing rigging, too. I think it makes a very nice looking rig.

Enjoy!

sailboating is a joke

Yes mate, it is a joke that is shared by many plesant and happy people.

I am not sure if you are being "funny, sarcastic, unplesent, supportive, derogitory, encouraging, or what, but if you would like to give sailing a try you may find it a little more challanging than you imagined.
Best wishes from NZL.

Howdy --

Yes, I like this boat more each time I see it.

The plans show the stations spaced at 4.5" through the body of the boat with almost 1.5" from the last station to the stern and about 3.5" from the first station to the bow. And... you'll notice that all of that adds up to OVER 45"... I'm assuming that the designer was taking maximum advantage of the class rules. The AMYA class calls for a nominal 45" LOA, but it allows an additional 1/2" as close enough. That would keep those plans legal while maximizing the waterline... ALMOST. (A person could actually go yet another 3/8" longer by assuring that at foremost 3/8" of the bow is a shock-absorbing material and declaring it an integral bumper.)

I wonder why the main part of the plans won't print for you. Do other documents or graphics in .pdf files print OK for you?

It's easy to forget that people on the forums may be continents away... Yep, the Star45 is is one of the classes sanctioned by the AMYA for the States.

I definitely identify with having too many projects going. I'm just starting on a vintage sailplane (although I have other airplanes in various stages of finishing) and I have one sailboat to finish and another one to do fairing and refinishing on. The Star is a boat I've been interested in since I sailed at college, but looking at the numbers, there aren't many of them in my part of this country -- which could be a drawback and an opportunity at the same time.

I used a printer at work to print out the 11"x17" sheets and then took them out to be enlarged to full size. There are some places that they are a bit jaggy, especially in the handwritten notes, but they're way better than I thought I was going to get, so I'm happy!

i guess as long as we have the frames its not hard to build the hull,i built this boat from plans of just the frames and it worked out pretty nice.im at the moment marking out plywood for a gas boat and next up is converting my sailboat to a tri .then building a tri from plans and then maybe the star 45 lol.i dont know if you remember me from the plane forums but i gave up on flying took too much out of my wallet and my nerves lol.sailboats are way more relaxing thats for sure although ive had the odd stressfull day retreiving them lol.

Al, Martno,

You can get the frames (bulkheads) laser cut from Stevens AeroModels http://www.stevensaero.com/shop/product.php?productid=18655&cat=449&page=1 . The plans are available from the AMYA. Check the Yahoo Star45 group for more information. There is a link to a build Blog. Good Luck.
