I'm working on a Goldberg Extra 330 77". I have this plane set up with 9 digital servos including the throttle servo. I plan on using some sort of LIon setup for the Rx and ignition.

Anyway, I just got a really great deal on a power expander pro. I was planning on using it in this plane, but now I'm thinking it may be overkill. Should I just use it, or should I go with something else?

BTW, I'm using a Futaba 148DP Rx. If I did use the PE, what's the best way to set up this system? I have 4 5475's on ailerons, 2 5645's on elevators, 2 5645's on the rudder, and a 5475 on the throttle. I also plan on using a fiber optic kill and equalizers on wings and rudder.

If you were looking at using a PowerExpander anyway the the Pro will work just fine. If you are planning to use lithiums then you might want to check out our SuperReg.

So if I use this expander, can I just run one battery, or do I have to run two? The diagram for the Pro only shows two battery set ups.

Also, what switch should I get and what order will the whole thing be set up? This is my first time doing anything like this.

You can run a single battery if you want. I would strongly suggest running two batteries though. I would suggest our SuperSwitchHD to go with the PowerExpander. We are out but should have stock by the middle to end of next week.

I wound up going with the Power expander Sport with a Super regulator. I bought the package deal from you with the jumper cables. I also got the falsafe switch for the reulator.

Now, how do I hook this up? Let me know if I have this right. 1 battery into each of the 2 inputs on the regulator. From there, run the two jumpers into the each of the inputs on the PE. run the switch in to the regulator(Is this the only switch needed to turn my radio equipment on and off?). So is that it, and I'll be good to go? Like I said earlier, this is the first time doing a set up like this.

Also, Is it safe to use 2 cell lipo's as my Rx packs with this set up? I have a few Thunder power 1320mah 2 cell packs that I never used. I figure I can put them to use in this airplane. 2 1320mah packs would equal to 2640mah with the super reg, right? I figure that should be ok to run 9 digital servos. What do you think?

Yes, you have it right. The failsafe switch turns the regulator on and off and, therefore, both batteries. It will draw about 5mAH/Day out of each pack. You can use any two cell lithium with this, polys are fine. I think you should have plenty of flying time with 2640mAH of battery.

Status: offline 		Chris, This is an awesome setup and I believe you made the correct decision on the batteries. Be sure an test the batteries every flight under a 1 amp load. The batteries will be good to fly until you hit 7 volts under a 1 amp load.

I didn't know if I'm doing a little over kill since this is a smaller airplane(Goldberg 77" Extra 330), but I figured better safe then sorry running 9 digi's(That's including the throttle servo). I know it's adding a few ounces of weight, but I have plans to keep it light. My goal is for 14 pounds RTF. Lighter would be better, I really don't want more then 14 1/2 pounds MAX though. All in all I think it will fly ok, and now I know that everything will be safe with the Smart Fly setup.

I just put a few flights on my Yak today with the Ignition Kill from Smart Fly. It worked flawlessly, and the extra feeling of safety was priceless!!
