I was driving around last Sunday and suddenly the stick shift came loose out of the console. It hadn't been shifting well lately. The throw was getting longer. Now I know why. I was lucky I didn't get stuck on the road. I wasn't far from home, maybe 5 miles. But anyway the car got stuck in 3rd gear so I was able to drive at 40 mph with the emergency flashers on. And I got luck, not traffic and green lights. Here are some pictures of what broke. At least the replacement part is only $32.

I would take this time to upgrade to an after market shifter. Better feel and adjustable stops. Just an idea.

I have since fixed it. It was the easiest repair I've ever made. It took 1/2 hr. Besides I don't drive the car a lot any more because I bought a new car last year. I'm sure the replacement part will last a long time.
