I'm looking at this plane. I've watched the videos, flying and commentary. It looks like a sweetheart of a plane.

Questions:
1. Why fly with a canister? Is it more powerful? Is it quieter?
2. I have a DA 50 with a Slimline pitts style muffler. Canister have more power? Quieter? Why would I want to go with the canister?
3. Would this plane balance with the Slimline pitts muffler?
4. Will the firewall accomodate the Slimline pitts muffler without a great deal of modification?
5. I'm at nosebleed elevation, (4500'). Is the canister an advantage or disadvantage at high elevation?
6. How do I order a plane or combo? Do I have to get on a waiting list or can I pay and receive some of the first shipment?
7. Lastly, when do you expect to see the first planes? Will you have enough stock to cover all your initial orders?

Thanks
Barry

Canisers are quiet, might gain 100 or so RPM, others can comment on this. Canisters have a nice throttle responce.
Thats all i can comment on.

Hi Barry,

Here are the answer to your questions:

1. Noise limit would be the most important factor. If you don't have a noise limit at your field, I would fly without it.
2. Your set up should be fine. Canister will improve your top RPM by 100 top, not considerable.
3. Yes
4.Yes
5. Really won't make that much of difference. In fact I rather keep the plane lighter and not use them.
6. Yes, you can get them in the first shipment if you go on waiting list.
7. We expect them in March. We have already a long list, I would put my name in there now before it's too late

Thank you,
Reza Gh.

Hi guys

For my two penny worth, I gained 1100rpm with the TDK 75 over a pitts on the MVVS 45 its a no brainer go with the Cannister its win win all around.

This is the vidio of the comparison.

Must have a good effect on MVVS 45. No way you can get that much more on a DA50 even with tuned pipe, I guarantee you.

Thank you,
Reza

The MVVS obviously needs a free flowing exhast, the throttle response with the TDK is much better also, I am at present installing a MTW 75K in my 85" QQ Yak will report back on how it performs on the MVVS 58 Pro once its done.

I watched the video. WOW, the difference on MVVS 45 is significant! Not that much on a DA50. In fact I had one on tuned pipe and didn't like it as much as my standard muffler. It did give me 300 more RPM but the transition wasn't that much different than stock or pitts muffler. Now DA50 on regular Can would only improve the top end RPM around 100 more or less. The MVVS seems to have better transition and a lot more power on Can. Please do let us know of your findings. I'm sure many can advantage from it.

Thank you,
Reza

Yes the difference is significant, I think this may be the difference between a purpose made engine and one that is modified to be used in a plane ( not trying to start a war on DA) the transition between part and full throttle was very marked, not having to blip the throttle so much in high alfa you can hold an almost constant throttle opening, I will keep you informed of developments as I run in and use these MVVS's that I have, BTW the purpose made ISO mounts for the MVVS also temper the vibration and noise considerably also, I will post a vid as soon as I have my Edge up and running for info.

Well, I did it.

I didn't want to get left out in the cold (we have enough of that already here in Idaho) so I ordered this plane. I ordered the combo with the DA50 and the cannister set up. We are always concerned about noise at our field so I'll try and use the quiet pipe. Hopefully it won't be restrictive or add too much weight. At my elevation I struggle to get the best performance I can. I have an AirWild Extra 260 with a DA 50 and it performs very well. It only weighs 14lbs 14ozs and the DA with pitts muffler is giving me over 24lbs thrust. I'm really amazed at how much power the DA has. It's still only got 1 1/2 gallons through it and I'm still using the Lawnboy oil. Who knows maybe it'll get over 25 before it's all said and done.

Anyways, I talked with Wayne and ordered the plane. He said I'll for sure get one as they haven't exceeded the quanity yet. He said they expect to ship before middle of March.

Anyways, now I just have to wait and see.

Thanks for the help.

Barry

I'm anxiously awaiting this plane. It looks like it will fly so good. In the mean time I've downloaded the manual and have been reading it. Looks like a great, very informative manual.

Question: How do you balance this plane? It gives the dimensions at the wing tips. Every other plane I've built gives this point againt the fuse. It doesn't seem possible to scribe a line from the wing tip to the fuse because the wing is a double taper type (I think). So how do you do it? Build a couple of supports and literally balance it from the wing tips? Does anyone have a dimension from the leading wing edge at the fuse? Do you balance the plane upside down or right side up?

Just some questions to clearify when I start building the plane.

Thanks
Barry

Get a friend to help you lift it by the wing tips or tape a string from wing tip to wing tip across the fuselage to find the point at the root of the wing you need to balance at. Balance it right side up.

Best way, is to have a helper lift the plane from the other side, like Shakes mentioned.

Thank you,
Reza

WHMC...

I'm using a Nova 4" spinner from AirWild.

A Tru-Turn would work nicely also.

Thanks
Barry
