On the front landing gear bracket, can I get away with using three screws to hold it on? I can't get a blind nut into the bottom hole under the throttle linkage.

I am about to just go with it, but I wanted to get some outside opinions.

Thanks guys!

Check the pics in the prevous posts - this area should be reinforced, not compromised. Its too easy for the front wheel assembly to tear out of that thin bulkhead.

I reinforced the entire bulkhead when I repaired it, but I would rather have a clean break on the plastic bracket rather than the whole bulkhead rip out.

I couldn't do anything about the problem I had, so I will just risk it.

If you're landings are good and you don't roll into the rough (like I do all the time), you'll have no problems. Ideally, the front wheel should get no stress when landing with a nice flare, rear wheels touching down first. dah...

I finally got my HAN3011 glow plugs from Horizon Hobbies. After struggling with getting my Evo .52 to run smoothly throughout the whole throttle range, I caved in thinking that the last variable was the dumb glow plug. I tried several off-the-shelf RC Long glow plugs from my LHS with no real joy.

Apparently, this engine is quite picky with the plug, and Hozion will happily sell them to you at about 9 bucks each (after tax and shipping).

Well, we shall see this weekend. Probably I can't go fly but will certainly do some engine tests with these recommended plugs. The unusual charactistics about these HAN3011 plugs is that they are intended for 4-stroke, have a thicker element wire, and have a slightly longer sleeve that is supposed to protect the wire from excessive cooling from fresh fuel splashing into the chamber.

Glad to hear you had a great first experience with this model, all the preparation does really pay off. Did you get some time on the simulator before the maiden? Any pics?

I did not fly this weekend but I did get the fuselage on the test bench and ran a quarter tank of fuel through my Evo .52. I played with the valve settings but really the main thing was THE PLUG. With the stock recommended HAN3011 plug, she runs smooth, has a smooth idle-to-WOT transition, and give more high end power. Sweet! She ROARS again!

Very slight vibration noticed, and it varied depending on the RPM, so I will put the spinner and prop through the balancing procedures tonight. That should clean it up. Next, I will try to get the minimum reliable idle speed down a bit. More playing with the lower needle bar.

Weather looks bad but I should get her flying again in a week or two...

Markind, I am in the same boat as you, weather-wise (15 deg F today!!!). As soon as it get to a reasonable flying temperature, I will get this bird back in the air for a check-flight as it will be too cold to do longer than that!!!

What damaged the old plug? Just age?

The original plug died in mid-flight. Fortunately, I managed a very nice emergency landing in the rough, with my Raptor's nose just coming to a stop under a barbed wire fence! whew...

I think the original plug had its service life cut short on a previous flight that may have running too lean. I was told one lean run can ruin an engine, but it must not have been that bad. She is now running good on the bench. I have set the top needle to full counter-clockwise which is max Rich setting. I have set the lower needle bar about 80% of full counter-clockwise, which is toward the Rich side. I am sticking with 10% Tower Power fuel for now. I have lots of 15% on hand for later.

Been little slow here regarding the F-22. I have a Nitro Bobcat with tower 75, cermark F-16 with OS 91, and looking to get 1 more for the hanger. May go with an OS 55 on this or maybe a Madnum 52.

I recently had a Magnum .52 and it is a very high revving motor and the midrange was very touchy. Wasn't very pleased with it overall, ended up using a Evo.46 with over 100 flights on it and was much happier with it's performance. I would go with the OS .55, very reliable and not as finicky as the Magnum where tunning is concerned. Either would fly it well though..

Thanks Pip-Viper I have doing some research on the Magum but can't find much on them. I have a buddy to 3 of them and he love them. So i will go with the extra 50 dollars and the the OS 55.
