Depends - do you like Ford or Chevy? Futaba or JR?
I fly JR on 72 but my primary is a Spectrum 7.
Either one will work, as long as you can use a "Y" harness on the flaps and ailerons on that particular Futaba. there was a problem noted regarding that on an earlier post.

That's a 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of another question. There is no "better" radio.

The 55 AX has the same mounting dimensions as the 46 AX but considerably more power.

If your'e in the market for a new radio consider going 2.4 gig (Futaba or Spektrum).

The Spektrum DX7 is normally sold as a package with servos and batteries for about $349, but, in my area you can find people who will sell their receiver battery for $12, the switch for $5, and the servos for $25/ea. A good bargain in my book (only it you are needing that stuff). That brings the price down to $232, which makes it a better bargain than Futabas' 6 channel SS radio.

Now for the rub.....which SS system is better??? IMO too early to tell. To me, at this point we just started the game...well, Spektrum may be leading 3-0 for coming out first...

I don't think you can go wrong either way...

Futuba's SS has been being used in military apps for quite alot of years, DSX has been out for 3? Now I need a newer radio to take advantage of it. There is no difference or better radio out there, they all do pretty much the same thing. (other than SS obviously) The only difference I've noticed is ease of use. (programming) If you want to know which radio is better, go to your local HS and mess with each one, check out how easy it is to navigate through the menus and how each feels in your hands. Then YOU will know which is a "better" radio for you.

True, so it makes me wonder why it took so long for their RC aircraft transmitter to come to market....

In that case just save your money until you can buy what you want.....or, as the old saying goes....buy cheap buy twice...

Yes. It goes much better. If you don't have a noise problem at your field, go with a 12/6 airscrew. If you have to hold down the noise, try a 12/8.

Actually, I didn't get to test anything but an 11/7.5 on the Raptor (wrecked it too soon), but on my PTS Mustang with the OS 55, the 12/6 was better than the 12/8. The 12/8 would bog down a little at the top of big loops and such, but the 12/6 didn't, only it really made a lot of noise. I had to go with the 12/8 just to stay below out 94 DB sound limit.

APCs seem to turn up less than airscrews, but they are quieter. My best quess for the 55 would be either a 12/7 or 12/7, but again, that's a best guess.

Has anyone tried to mount the engine on the rear making a pusher out of this?
