Guys, i just want to make sure all you new guys are using air filter oil. you need to put this oil in your air filter, you need to clean your air filter, dry and work air filter oil in the dry filter. You WILL destroy your engine without it. you can get it from your hobby store, online or at an automotive store but you MUST use it.

gear oil is not as tacky as aif filter oil, most automotive stores have it cheap too. gear oil may be good in a pinch but i wouldnt suggest to use it all the time, your better off using air filter oil. [:D]

YES Dad! hehehe

Goes without saying that the air filter should be also be regularly replaced or washed, otherwise it could result in engine damage as well. Also you don't need to saturate the sponge, just pop it in a plastic bag and drop a small dollop of oil onto, zip the bag up and thoroughly massage the oil into the filter. The one I use is blue and so you only need enough to make the sponge a very light tint of blue. If you use too much, again this will result in possible engine damage.

ehroof -> RE: AIR FILTER OIL (1/20/2007 3:31 PM)

you know what happened, i saw a picture that someone else posted and it looked like the filter was almost white, i had asked them about the filter oil and he didnt use any oil on the filter so i just figured i would post this just in case any of the new guys didnt realize.

I do remember the veggie oil thing, i still say veggie oil is better than no oil at all

mozzzy_2000 -> RE: AIR FILTER OIL (1/20/2007 4:03 PM)

mik641 -> RE: AIR FILTER OIL (3/22/2007 9:53 AM)

i was told to use normal motor oil and work it into the sponge

hawk900 -> RE: AIR FILTER OIL (3/22/2007 10:44 AM)

airfilter oil (the stuff you should use)
there are lots of brands out there
its a couple bucks and lasts long time
(recommend do not use substitute fluids)

ehroof -> RE: AIR FILTER OIL (11/26/2007 4:15 AM)

motor oil is better than nothing but not nearly as tacky as air filter oil.

pede_187 -> RE: AIR FILTER OIL (11/26/2007 4:16 AM)

i will never live that one down, lol. I said it was better than using nothing at all and man did they jump down my throught about it, i still stick to my guns, i would rather use veggie oil than a dry air filter.

Syclone354 -> RE: AIR FILTER OIL (11/27/2007 8:33 AM)

Yea dry is bad. go to any motorcycle shop and get a big spray can for motorcross bike air filters. same stuff, super super tacky, can will last you years on rc car filters, and is only like 5-6 bucks a can

k3nv -> RE: AIR FILTER OIL (12/4/2007 1:07 AM)

a guy at one of my hobby shops told me that you can soak the filter in nitro fuel, let the methanol evaporate leaving just the oil and you don't need air filter oil? is this true?
