I am interested if anyone has purchased one of these ARF P40 warhawks (found on Nitromodles inc.) and if they came with quality assembly plans? Is there a way to exhaust this engine without the muffler just hanging of the side of the cowling to make it look more realistic? Is this a reasonable second plane after practicing with a trainer?
Is this model a quality kit? Any advise in this regard would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim

A friend of mine has one.

The plans are typical of most Asian ARF's, providing basic information and a large pictoral diagram.

The kit quality is good, but that also means that you'll probably want to replace most of the hardware, and wheels etc. Fairly typical.

Re: Exhaust

This is totally up to you.

The question makes it seem that this may be your first ARF... this would NOT be a good plane for you if so.

---

This is NOT a "reasonable second plane"... no WARBIRD is (with the possible exception of the H9 PTS trainer).

Warbirds are a handful to fly and they do NOT land like trainers.

You should have good low wing experience before you venture into a warbird.

You also should have experience building at least 3-5 ARF models of different types before you tackle this one.

If you are at the point where you feel that all you need is the C.G. to build ANY ARF, you are ready for this plane.

The larger planes also need more work which you will not find direct documentation for.

I'd suggest you try a low wing .40.46 acrobatic plane next, followed by either a biplane or a smaller .40-.52 warbird.

The latter will be easier to build and put together, but will teach you how to land the larger more wing loaded planes.

Don't rush in.

The plane you save will be your own!

Good advice... I had 12 planes (2 of which RIP (Rest in pieces)) between my trainer and my first warbird.

Thanks very much for the advise. As you must know, I am excited to fly one of these great looking planes...I guess the operative word is "fly" not crash. I will take your sage words seriously and continue training.
Thanks again.
