Vicman,

I am building a patriot and I planned on putting a rocket engine on the back just for kicks. I have all the wiring for and equipment for the remote ignition.

Tell me more about your experience and what kinda trouble your talking about.

or is ignorance bliss in this case?

Tell me more,

I am installing the rocket system in a week or so.

Sure have
I have about 20 flights on the T3
Built 3 differnt versions. The 1st was electric to test theories, T2 & T3 are full scale
versions. Testing T3 with YS 60 last 3 flights. Lost 20-30 mph but idle is more
dependable. Plan to test it with a OS61FX.
Lost photo when I edited the first post. Will do a thread on the aircraft.

I think what Todd was getting at was that it would be a good trainer with the prop engine before going to a turbine powered aircraft. A good model for sign off as well. I pretty sure Todd knows what a Bobcat is.

I know, It wasn't a slam at todd, it was a sarcastic comment towards the design. I guess I just really wish somebody would do something original again, or at least different. Why build something that looks identical to something else, It does look good, and I wonder if it's the same size and whatnot as the bobcat, but I'd really like to see something original. I hate when people take a design, copy it nearly line for line and then put their own name on it. I'm sure not all the good designs are taken, are they?

THE TOMAHAWK IS REFLECTIVE OF BOB AND TOMS PROJECTS THAT ARE
TWICE THE SIZE OF THIS ONE AND ALSO COST 5 TO 6 TIMES MORE TO BUILD AND OUTFIT . ALL YOU NEED IS A GOOD 60 CLASS ENGINE , A 4 CHANNEL RADIO MIN AND SPEEDS OF 120 - 150 CAN BE OBTAINED. THIS AIRCRAFT WAS DESIGNED FOR LOW BUGET AND HIGH SPEED .

Don,
Come out to the cow pasture again and I'll hook up a buddy box to my Whiplash TX. That will give you a speed fix, plus turn your shorts brown.

Hi,
I launched at a low 18K using an 8.75x8W because I could only peak at 18.5K. It handled well, not giving me much time to get on the trims. Speed was much like my Arrow, about 130. I returned it to Dub who reported that my pipe was 1-1/4" too long. He got 19.3K using my 8.75x9W. As soon as I get it back I'll be out there ready for some quick laps. For landing I was prepared for a short glide angle. Full up kept the nose up nicely, thanks to the 5/8" throw. More to follow. Thanks for all the tips.

Sean, I admire a guy with the gumption to slap a RIRE piped engine on a DDust!! Good show. Same engine on the Shrike?? It ought to do pretty good.

Attached is a Patriot powered with a YS 45 w/tuned pipe, APC prop, and ROM-AIR retracts. Totally different plane when gear is up. This plane whistles during flight and not sure where it is coming from...maybe from wheel wells

The main color is an old platinum and I honestly do not remember the brand. I do remember finding it in a clearance bin for 5 bucks back in '94. Then I striped it with the yellow and silver. Yep, she's that old. Sylvester is the pilot. Use to blow the pants off the 60 sized Cougars. I'm glad you like it
