Hello,
I have a Sig Somethin' Xtra that was built to be a fun fly/aerobatics plane but I've become obsessed with more speed. I have a radar gun and with a few minor mods I have hit 120 mph w/an OS 50SX and Macs muffler and 11 x 6 APc prop.
I really like the Patriots I've seen at the field but I'm told they are no longer made. I've also seen Patriot ARF's mentioned in the "speed" forum. Is there such a thing?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike....

....Tower Hobbies still has the new kits in stock....thet were
discontinued for a long time, and were brought back by
popular demand.

Look under Great Planes....airplane kits.....40 to .50 size.

Dave.

There are a couple good deals on ebay also. One includes all the hardware including retracts.

Yes sir- There "were" ARF Patriots years ago...

If you get ahold of one (Kit or arf-) strip that OS-50SX out of the SE and stick it in the Patriot! Then the fun begins-

120 with a Somethin' Extra? I didn't know those could go that fast with that fat wing- I have an Irvine-53 on mine and it flies slow... even sits still sometimes

I am glad you got bit by the speed bug cuz its' more fun with more people-

You might also look for a Direct Connection/Kangke F-20, Cermark F-20 (60 size) or a delta like a Whiplash if you want some speed-

Best of luck sir,
james

Loony, I am building a Dyna Jet to a set of prints I found on the web. I have everything made except for the tube. I just havn't quite decided how I want to form it and weld or if I want to spend fome money and have one spun.

Did you see that thing fly!? That would be my club's worst nightmare. How did he get all those engines started at the same time?

Loony I think you have posted a pic of the ultimate Revver Brother! Cause I know he aint got no wife and his girlfreind and maybe parents and siblings have asked him to tone it down a bit!

Verry Cool!

No I never saw it fly I just found the pics surfing the net as for starting the engines i'm sure there is a lot of cursing, tuning, fueling.
This makes me think one brauner pulsejet is just not enough, time to start the lathe
and make two more.

How are you making the outer tube?

Dave, if this gets away from the context let me know and I will start a new thread.

A friend's dad had an old unknown pulse jet we found in his garage. We were only able to get it to pop, sputter, and shoot flames for just fractions of a second at a time. Never able to actually get it running. Are they typically this difficult to deal with?
