Hi again Fokke , I have a question about the rivets during the molding process... how do you keep the intricate detail of the rivets from filling with the turtle wax or whatever product you are using as a release agent?

Hi pencon ,Thank you for the interes !
I don't have problems with rivets ,the rivets are not soo deep ,off course I use release agent for all fuse and all mould ,you can see that my mould hawe 5 pieces ,this is more comfortably for work with mould for me .

Hi Rumen,

just few questions:

when you do the rivets?

Before or after gluing the foils on place.

How do you draw the fuselage sections? I tried hard but still not satisfied with the result. To draw a shape on a flat foil which will fit on the curved surface is quite challenging...

Do you have some trick?

Thanks,

Bela

Hi bf109!

thanks for asking. I have found 0,1 mm industrial aluminum foil they consider it as 'hard'. I guess this is the alloy type it is made of. It is sold in 1 meter wide roll and you can buy even 1 kg of it which is about 3-4 sqrt meter. Finally I have made my mind on the method to follow.

this is the progress:

(the pictures are showing the status of last week.)

@ this weekend I draw all the panel lines with a help of a laser leveling tool and this is ready for the further steps.

to glue them on the place I will use a water soluble pressure sensitive glue applied to the foil surface and pressed to the fuselage. This will create a film like the self adhesive stickers.

Regards,

Bela

Hello Fokke

I just stumbled across this post today... wow... what a great plane....

the answer to this question may have been already....

I wanted to do some molds in the future.....

How is this done exactly???
It looks from you pictures that yuo did some sort of expanding foam???

Are the molds plastic that is heated and vacumed on the fuse??

Or do you have to go purchase these items from a specific store that has these items???

Perhaps there is a post on the forum dedicated speciffically for making molds??

Thanks

Justin

In this picure it looks like you have a fiberglass cloth with epoxy layed apon the fuse of the plane (RED area?)

You then sprayed the foam on the fuse soon after this was applied??

What is the gray stuff on top of the foam??? (magenta color)

Also it looks like some sort of tin materal on the edge of the gray stuff?? (GREEN)???

Thank you for your help...

Justin
