Status: offline 		I have just purchased a CMPro Katan 50, my question is will a 20zo engine such as a magnum .70or O.S. .70 do well in this plane. If someone has experiance with this model or this combo I appreciate any help at all.

Status: offline 		Should fly ok with the Magnum 70, with the Magnum 60 its pathetic and with a SA82 its very good, not great but very good.

Status: offline 		thanks for the info, There is a review of this plane at http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=421 this fella claims to have used a .52 Im presuming a magnum or o.s. and I figured yea it would fly with that....but how well.

Status: offline 		The review in RCU used a 52 2C Tiger Shark engine and the baby can really perform. I think the pilot is really good too. It was very impressive. If the plane flies that well with a 52 2C then something like the the SA82 turning a 14x6 on 25% nitro would be superb fun. I think your Mag 70 turns a 13x6.

Status: offline 		Well, I ended up with a YS FZ .63 I have a YS 1.40 on a cap and am very happy with it. The YS engines seem to have a little more punch to them than the other brands.

Status: offline 		The YS63 should turn a 14x6 on 25% nitro, I got the YS110 and now the YS160DZ NIB. They are superb engines, good idle with a crisp transition. You will have a ball with the YS63 on your CMP Katana 50.

Status: offline 		I bought it off EBay got it for 86$ and 20$ shipping I saw a yak floating around on there, The katana arf is one of the easiest arf I have done had everything but the engine mounted etc in 1 evening!

Status: offline 		Superman ... what do you mean 'propr' range? I am a little lost ... sorry! If you mean PROP range then the 13x6 is about nice and she will also turn a 14x6 on 25% nitro.

Status: offline 		Yea I ment PROP it was a typo ....its very cold here and I had to much sugar befor typing that post ....again sorry.
Anyhow I will be flying 30% so the 14-6 should be a great choice

Status: offline 		I purchased the CMP Katana 50 from Ebay as my third plane. The instructions were a little to vague for me however I was able to built it OK. I do not like the spring connection of
the wing sections, the wheel spindles will not work but the plane is beautiful. I installed a Saito 82 because my flying buddy told me this plane needed it. All servos are Futaba
digital 3151's. Plane weighs 6.5lbs full of fuel. I have an onboard glow ignitor with a built in battery. The engine is turning a 14/4w APC @ 10200rpm on the ground. I have the cg at the manual recommended location and balanced the plane side to side. My problem is with its flight characteristics. My son has flown this plane two times (he is the better pilot) but
said he will never fly it again. It has TONS of power to pull the plane, rolls are so fast its a blur but when you pull it into a loop it rights itself by that I mean it falls to the right when it is upside down and you just level it out. It will not make a round loop. My son landed it smoothly on our grass field and the landing gear pulled off. I think with the wheel pants on the landing gear snaged and because it is a two piece unit it folded back. Any suggestions on how to make it fly better. I used the hardware included in kit and followed the directions. If I cannot get it to fly any better it will be for sale.

Status: offline 		I recently purchased this model second hand in great condition from a friend who hasn't flown the model in over a year.

Unfortunately it didn't come with the manual and he cant remember how he had it setup.

Can someone please help me with what the C of G and Control Throws as per the manual should be.

Status: offline 		Try a master airscrew 13x6 on 25% you'll enjoy it better than the apc. I tried both on my ys 63 and the master airscrew made the plane more stable in torque rolls and the engine seemed to handle the prop better.

Kyle woishness back in the day used a 13x6 master airscrew on his funtana 40 also..and recommended it as a rule of thumb for 3d!
