I have had several people suggest that I rinse out my Hanno OS61P's pump with methanol if it is not to be used for a couple of months.

This sounds like a good idea but where the heck do you find methanol?

Most is probably sold at race tracks for the cars.

You can buy 99.9% methanol anywhere HEET fuel line anti-freeze is sold. Its more expensive than bulk, but its always there in a pinch if you need it.

Methanol sources:
Speed or racing (car) shops
Some motorcycle shops have it or can order it for you
Local industrial places often will sell you a gallon or two
Some cleaning supply places can get it for you
FHS and some model fuel places
VP Racing (great M-1 methanol, my 110 gallons are 99.985% I believe)
Some hobby shops can get it for you

Hi Everyone,
I want to introduce my new idea, and I sure hope everyone will help me with it!
I work for a chemical company in Phila. So many times we sell methanol to people that have to pay an outrageous shipping cost because they are not aware of a reputable dealer closer to them. i am sure other companies do the same. it is sad. What I am trying to do here is get this program started where people post their methanol needs, and sellers can post their business information, and then buyers and sellers can reply to each other so that the buyer gets the best deal possible.

This is actually costing my company money, and we are going to lose sales over it, but we have some ads here and there for other chemicals so maybe we canm ake up the losses, but we are more interested right now in uniting this country in this biodiesel effort so we are not held captive to foreign oil. We need to get together and share in this!
So please help me get it started and come and post your needs.

Thirty seconds of google searches turned up a methanol vendor within 5 miles of my house.

How did Florida get into this. Just google VP racing. Or just methanol. Call up a race track in your area that has sprint or dirt stock car racing. Both burn methanol in some classes.

I was thinking of methanol for biodiesel, and i know that people are having a problem getting it in bigger quanities, that's all.
i just heard that it is hard to obtain large quantities in certain places. i guess I am in the wrong forum?

In Canada you can buy it from the paint department at Walmart, Canadian Tire and Home Hardware. Canadian tire is the cheapest at $6/Gal.

You want to get VP M1 methanol..

Easiest place to buy it is at drag strips, circle tracks or karting shops. Google is your friend....

I'm picking some up this weekend, $5 gallon....
