Hi mikuk,

On another R/C board, someone who has the camera said it does indeed record with the screen closed. Hopefully we'll have some nice videos to post soon

Thanks, SS

It will auto-shutoff with the screen closed normally. Flip it around so the screen faces outward, it'll stay on.

If you open the screen, start recording then close the screen it will continue recording. On the other hand if you start recording with the screen closed it will stop recording after a short time. At least my IS-DV works this way.

I've had a couple of Aiptek SD camcorders and unfortunately Aiptek continues to manufacture (some models and newer ones) camcorders that when the LCD door is closed against the body, the camera turns off. Also as posted above, some will continue to record video if the recording is started with the LCD door open and then closed. For the price, these secure digital (SD) card camcorders are the best on the market for RC in-flight video. Sure would be nice if Aiptek would provide an option (no matter how deeply buried in the OS options it is!!) to disable this "wonderfully convenient" LCD shutoff feature. Aiptek engineers don't see a need for the camera to record video with the LCD closed...I mean Jeez, like "dude" why would ya wanna do that?! When the LCD door closses, a magnetic sensor on the motherboard turns off the camera when the LCD door is closed. A friend and I were able to take apart an Aiptek camcorder and defeat the sensor by removing a small magnet from inside the door. Sure, you can turn the LCD door around so the LCD faces outward and continue recording, but the problem with that "solution" is the LCD screen is exposed, not latched and battery drain increases because the LCD is on.
