cotton11 -> Cool Power Castor/Synthetic Blend? (1/28/2007 3:40:26 AM)

I've used Morgan's Omega 10% castor/synthetic blend in my 2c engines, but read that it may contain a bit too much castor for my new OS .30 4c (my first 4 cycle). The engine seems to run fine on the Omega blend. I was in the LHS and picked up a gallon of Morgan's Cool Power (green) 4-Cycle 15%. I noticed the sticker indicates this is a castor/synthetic blend. I'm confused, I thought Cool Power used only synthetic lubricants. Morgan's website is no help. Anyone else notice this?

The sticker is printed:

COOL POWER 4-CYCLE 15%
Castor/Synthetic Blend

Thanks
Randall

If you read the directions to OS fourstrokes, At least the ones I have, they say to run 20% oil with an 18% oil minimum which can be anything from straight synthetic to straught castor and 5% to 15% nitro. Four stroke fuel generally does not have enough oil for modern 4 strokes and should not be used in most cases.. Generally any good quality Castor/synthetic fuel with at least 18% oil should be fine. 10% nitro is all you need as well. Morgan's Omega 10% should work just fine. Straight synthetic is not recomended for breakin or for inexperienced engine operators due to the possibility of lean runs. The castor oil will add some additional protection.

Your fuel is great, use it. In most cases synth/cast blends are a 80/20 blend. The castor is your "insurance" against engine failure. Follow the manual and you should be fine.

Randall, I agree that Morgan's site is not the best. However, most of the fuel companies only provide partial info online. Some provide nothing.

The only "contact info" they have on the site is a fax number, 334-393-4852.

You can probably ask them via fax what the ratio is of Castor to Synthetic.

4-Stroke (standard)
Nitro 15%
Total Oil 17% Ultra-High viscosity

4-Stroke-MV
Nitro 15%
Total Oil 18% Multi viscosity

I would guess the CP four stroke blend is identical to Omega (with different dye) but the only way to get accurate info is to ask Morgan.

they are just a few blocks down the street from me and their # is 334-347-3525, but they aren't going to tell you the blends/ratios. the 15% Cool Power is the only Cool Power that does contain a small percentage of Castor.

The green coolpower we get is full syn. wether it is 10, 15, 20, or 30%. The red coolpower and omegas contain castor that is why they are red. The full synthetic does not contain castor. Thus the name, FULL SYNTHETIC..

KC36330 -> RE: Cool Power Castor/Synthetic Blend? (3/10/2007 1:52:31 AM)

as previously stated ONLY the green 15% cool power (non MV) has Castor, the red is 100% synthetic, don't take my word for it, feel free to give Morgan a call.

kc

EDIT: the red Sidewinder fuels are a Castor based fuel.

Not trying to say your wrong but on all the labels on the red fuel (coolpower) it say 15% /castor(6) the green don't. I'm just trying to find a good alternative to the 30% heli syn. blend we can't seem to get in Denver anymore. Do you by chance have a number to reach them at? Can't find any contact info on there site.

Thanks

all the Cool Power labels say 'Total Synthetic Model Engine Fuel', even the green 15%, but the green 15 does have Castor in it. 334-347-3525, Sandra will be happy to help you with simple questions for you but Don't expect hard answers on oil percentages.

EDIT: just noticed i posted their # just a few posts up too.
