Tomas whats up man!!! This sounds like a great idea. Seems like as soon as I think I have all my planes that I'm going to purchase lined up, here comes something else...

What I would like to see is the 100-103" ARF but make it available in plain "silver" or "green" so that the owner can add his own details. I've been wanting to do the "yankee lady" for a long time now.

Tomas if you do one in a ARF how about using fabric covering. The reason for me is it has paint instead of what ever, looks better, and adding paint details to finish off in the particular scheme the modeler wants is easily applied. I assumed that it has a fiberglass fuse? Keep us posted on the plane thanks.

Why the difference of 4" and 5"? What is so different about the two versions of only 5" wingspan?

Thanks guys for the poll participation....

The larger B-17 will be more friendly to housing the tanks in the nacelles and also more friendly for overall servo placement, bombbay etc....

The size Doesn't sound like much I agree....However that MENTAL 100"+ barrier can keep many modelers from making a purchase...

Not only that but the length of the fuselage is also larger.... making for more interesting storage, transportation, etc.....

We do plan on offering the ARC ( in limited #s) , Solid color Aluminum/Silver WITHOUT MARKINGS!!, and also Olive with gray undersides also WITHOUT MARKINGS to allow custom markings etc.... This has been a personal dream of mine for years... and living so close to BOMBER FIELD.... I could not stop thinking of how many more B-17s could be flying at the Annual B-17 Gathering if there was a legitimate size B-17 available....

I am on travels right now... more to come....

Keep the polls coming...

Cheers!

Consider making it with both styles of tail gun ( stinger, or Cheyenne) and a seperate chin turrent, nose blisters, so it could be an E, F, or G model.

I voted for the size of B-17 that I got the plans from Wingspan Models to build...whenever I get the chance to do so. Good luck on this project. I'll be keeping a eye out for you now.

I am curious if there is a price range you are attempting to stay within for the kits?

I love the B-17's and even had the opportunity to fly the Collin's Foundation's B-17, the "909" a few years ago. I'd love to have one of these kits, but to be completely honest, pricing will have a lot to do with it I get one or not.

Guys, Guys,,,, I am a modeler and consumer just like everyone else...

I do not want to outprice the model.... HOWEVER I do not want to be a cheap profile scale , squint scale B-17 either... We are not the lowest priced P-38 or P-61...just the nicest and most scale in the ARF/ARC world... same will be true of the ARC/ARF B-17....

We will be lots nicer than the profile brands out there... and nothing against the "other brand"

Pricing will be under $1000.... under $850

-CHEERS!!

TOMAS

p.s. It will come in at 103" wingspan so people can transport them and not need a trailer and also be more affordable....

Nice nice nice!!! Couple of quick questions...

What is the recommended 2 stroke engine size, is this plane being designed around a particular set of retracts already available, and when will you start taking deposits?!?!?! I will seriously start getting some engines broken in right now for this project, a (scale) B-17 is a DREAM project for me. PS any spy photos???

Took a quick look over at Wingspan Models ( http://www.wingspanmodels.com ) to check up on the current price for the 1/12th scale full wood kit with plans. That one costs $610.00. For the short kit, WSM is selling it for $555.00 with plans. Without the plans, the kits are cheaper of course. But - From first hand experience, you would be a fool not to get them. Plans by themselves, cost $60.00. They are a work of art!

By the way, that WSM B-17F/G model has a wingspan of 103-1/2", fuse length of 73-1/2", expected weight range of 30 - 40 lbs. Engines are for 4x - .52 / .70ci 4-strokes.

So pricing of for a ARF/ARC for this size of model of under $1000.00 is pretty good. Even better if you can bring it in under $850.00. So Tomas, would the ARC's be even less?

ARC's actually cost us the same... factory does not give us credit... since they are always very limited #s... WE had lots of requests for ARC VQ P-38s and VQ P-61s.... GUESS WHAT....
Now that we have them ......they are not moving at the rate of requests..... very slow movers...

SO the ARCs will be available ...BUT in VERY limited #s and recommend leaving a deposit for one....

I think VQ will do great job ...they have been RC manufacture over 10 years -- right now all the kits VQ used LASER cutter
