hi everyone, just got my hurricane xp and have been beating the hell out of it. if you are a pro( or think you are) then this is probably not the buggy for you. if you want to have a great time not worrying about bustin up a buggy, this is the one. i was wondering are the parts on here compatible with the kyosho inferno 7.5, they look really similar. if i find out that the hurricane xp is compatible with the inferno 7.5, well this will open the door for getting parts alot easier. please let me know!

Basically most of the buggy except for the front where the hurricane has different suspension geometry compared to the inferno. But a lot of the "common" 1/8 buggy components are interchangable like ofna/hobao hyper 7. Both the hurricane & the inferno have near identical drive trains too so there are quite a few parts options. But since the front suspension is different there are quite a few hurricane specific parts that you will need if they break. Thats if they break. I have had a hurricane for the better part of 2 years and i kid you not; i have only had to replace maybe 4 or 5 parts if that!! Its a seriously robust buggy for what you pay for.
Anyway dude here's another, longer thread for the hurricane you might like to surf on in.

You don't need to change any thing except maybe do like i did with mine and put monster tires on it to keep the front end on the ground. Here check it out, my hurricane with a monster 30.

Redcat Hurricane with STS 30 Vid 1

Hurricane with STS 30 Vid 2

I wouldn't run another engine. I run STS engines in all my cars.

spend the money on an os, sts has been having troubles with their cranks splitting, low end needles leaning by themselves (i personally have had this problem and now my engine is fried) check the forums and even check stsmicroengines.com and see what people say on thier forums, and for the same money or less you can get an os engine:
http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/servlet/the-337/OSvg-.21/Detail

btw, i have never seen a 1/8 buggy lift the wheels off the ground with any engine, its basically impossible due to the center of gravity, i would like to see a vidoe of a 1/8 buggy doing a wheelie

you can get just about the same power out of the .21 nowadays. Plus then you can run the races. My son runs the vg in his hurricane and it rips. Better on gas than the .28's also.

dont forget about how easy it is to tune an os and how well it holds the tune!!!! Unless you spend big bucks on an r&b, nororassi, werks, collari or other big name engine, os is the way to go.

sh is a good engine too, i have heard alot about that 6 port sh.

thanks to all of you,for your support. I am totally green in the r/c world. I wish I would of known about this support thread, before I bought my hurricane. I did not break in the motor as you "guru's suggested". My buggy does not run well at all! I know it is my fault. Maybe, I should rebuild this motor, or replace with an .21. This forum has sured educated me on the basics of nitro vehicles.

I am a complete newb in the RC world. The only experience I have is the countless hours of reading I have been doing the last few days.

I was going to order a tornado bb pro, but they are out of stock. I am now thinking the Hurricane may be a good fit for me as it turns out. I like the 1/8th idea better than the 1/10th. This will be a recreation for me and my son only... nothing heavy.

The question is: Will I be ok with the XP rather than the Pro? I like the aluminum upgrades for durability, but I'm trying to keep the $ down. (so when the wife finds out it won"t be as bad )

I'm assuming the Hurricane over the Tornado is a good move?

Thanks in advance,
TThib

Hurricane is a awesome buggy. I have had mine for about 4 months and have not broken a single part on the thing. I do not bash but run on tracks all the time and it will hang with all of them. Very well built buggy

its single speed and there is no 2 speed for it, most if not all 1/8 buggys are single speed.

Could someone reccomend a humpack and charger? I was looking through clermont but I got confused as to which one would fit my Hurricane XP Pro.

Thanks Ehroof, I don't actually have the Hurricane yet... it's on its way. I read somewhere after the fact that the Pro needs a humpack. I was concerned about the connectors and Mah. Still trying to figure it all out. (guess it would help if I actually had the buggy)

hi i am new to rc cars and i have tried to fix this without asking and just reading but i dont think i did anything. so after i start the car it just wants to keep running really fast even without any gas. the only way i can get it to not move it when i put the brakes on. so i want some help on this if possible. also on a different area sometimes the engine sounds like it is going full speed right after i start it and i just want to know if this is normal.
Thanks
-Jean

you need to turn the trim down for the throttle, its on the remote, small round knob, usually say th on it for throttle. it depends on the radio you have.
