Status: offline 		always check batteries, connections and also make sure ur crystals are pushed in..also check ur reciever antanna.....most likely u got a bad connection or weak batteries

Status: offline 		I had a similar problem with my Monsoon. I pushed all he connections together, and none of them seemed loose, but when I tried my car again, it was working fine. It could just be ever so slightly loose to where you can't tell, but it is. Push everything together and then test it without running the car, and see if that works.

yeah if you could still buy a hurricane xl...just xp or xp pro's now...diff being in the engine and radio..all other parts should fit

Status: offline 		I set mine, LSN at 3 and HSN at 2 1/4 and tuned from there . May be a little rich but you can adjust.

I am looking for the factory carb settings for the break in period the settings are all off and I want to start from scratch can someone tell me in a bit of detail. I know where all the needles are and what does what I just want to know the turns of them. THANKS.

Status: offline 		put your idle at 1mm open....your high should be between 2 1/2 to 3 turn from all the way in (dont tighten tight)....low spd about 3 turns from all the way in (once again dont tighten tight)....this should get u runnin...just try to get around 200 asap..but prolly not much higher until ur done breaking in..and run a bit rich until ur done breaking in...dont forget to mark your flywheel were ur piston is at bdc...and ya always wanna put ur piston at bdc ASAP when ur engine is not runnin

When the sleeve gets hot it expands (You will notice the flywheel is easier to turn). When the sleeve cools it contracts (gets tighter). If the piston is on the top stroke when the sleeve contracts, it can't contract to it's true size. Thus causing unnecessary wear and/or damage to your piston/sleeve.

Status: offline 		This car is making me so frustrated!!!!! I have followed your factory settings and I can get it up and running with some tweaking but when I hit the gas it bogs out! I have experience with bigger carbs but these ones seem so touchy mm off and they wont work....What do you recommend from scratch starting with settings and then troubleshooting for the bog....If I ease the gas VERY slow it wont stall but doesnt run very well...I still need to break this buggy in its brand new. Thanks for who ever helps!

this is very important...if you dont put ur piston at bdc you can take out the pinch in your sleeve....you also want to get to operating temps as quick as possible...engine wears faster at low temps...u should try to get to or above 200 deg asap....trust me on these 2 things..I learned the hard way..lol

if the engine is too cold (just started) it will have a tendency to stall off idle. Make sure you let the engine warm up a little before you hit the throttle.
Remember, these are not regular engines, make very small adjustments at one time, one needle at a time. If it gets worse, start from where you were before you adjusted it and go the other way. When I say small adjustments, I mean no more than 1/8th of a turn.
It may take you some time (it did me) but when you finally get dialed in it will be a happy day

Oh yeah, make sure the pinch bolt (it's what holds the carb in, it's on the engine block below the carb) is tight. This is an area that can cause a lean condition.

Status: offline 		i purchased a left over i'm guessing hurricane lx. with the.21 engine. my questions are as follows

there is a missing screw underneath, third in from underneath that is located going through a mount for the gas tank. what part number would that be? could not locate it in the box, and can see straight through the whole.

2nd question, there are different remotes/radios to these vehicles? the lx i received does not match the one in the redcat manual, but operates the truck with batteries added.

3rd, is the humm from the servo going to fade or break in? i don't recall my other ones humming. seems to disapear with steering then humm reappears. i tried to adjust the controller but seems to come back. i have not run the engine yet.

4thm what at the two metal beads with the grub screws suppose to be set or just remain loose sliding back and forth on the two arms that connect the breaks and throttle servo?

1 Theres no screw that goes there
2 you can use any radio and receiver you want
3 All 3 of my trucks do that the hum, I can get my monsoon to stop once in awhile with the throttle trim but it usually starts again after a run.
4 Thats the way mine is and it operates just fine.

I'm still learning so if I'm wrong guys please step in.

Status: offline 		The metal beads with grub screws are adjusters for your brakes. You turn them and tighten or loosen your brakes. That hole is just for fuel to drain out of from the top of your fuel tank if you overfill. No screw goes there.

also the grub scews should be set in a specific way? rolling the brakes seem to work. i am waiting for a day to play. in day ten staight at work. trying to get myself to bed, but intriqued to learn.

I'll try to answer your questions, in order.

1st - the hole in the bottom is not a missing screw, it's where the allignment peg/overflow drain (hole for the fuel tank) is located to the chassie

2nd - Yes there are different radios. Redcat has recalled FM radios, yours apperes to be an AM radio. Also it depends on how long ago your hurricane was made. Could be that earlier versions came with the radio you have. My brother has just purchaced a new Hurricane XP, it came with the same radio you have. He has had no problems with it.

3rd - Make sure the antenna is all the way up on the transmitter and not right next to the car. This may or may not affect the servos.

4th - The silver collars - I have no idea what they are for, but, but, but you don not want them sliding around on the linkage. they might get caught up on something and jam the throttle linkage. Mine are located about 1/4 inch from the servo connectors.

Status: offline 		awesome i appreciate the help. i am still a novice and i sold my hpi trucks and bought this and also waiting for the avalanche too. it arrives possibly tomorrow.... so once i break this toy in, i get to play with the .28 i thought i was buying with the hurricane lx. (thought the seller was selling the xp- said new)

but i did keep the traxxas stampede... was a gift and love just ripping around and wheelies with it.

any great setting for this .21?

i'm used to the two needle.
