sounds like its your idle and throttle linkage... if your motor isnt reving up good that is you problem then when u let off it kills cuz your idle is set to low... when u first start it does it idle? what are ur needle settings on your carb? the highspeed should be 2.5 and low speed flush with the collar. set the idle up until it idles stable. make sure you have good gear mesh. check the conditon of your gears too. if that doesnt help anything make sure all of the dogbones are in place and if everything looks good and the throttle servo functions properly take out the motor and take off the clutch. look to see if the shoes are oval shape or circular and make sure the spring is in tact. let me know how things turn out

take little orings and put on the inside of the cup or tiny piece of fuel line make sure to do it to both. that way the rubber oring holds the shaft away from the cup and more securely. if you have more questions let me know

Hey guys, a while back I purchased an exceed rc Sunfire and the motor burnt out within a month. It has sat around ever since. Recently I've found out that it is actually a tornado and have thought about racing it. I want to get two sets of tires, Proline Calibers and JConcepts Goosebumps, Calibers for dry and Goosebumps for wet. The problem is that I don't know what wheels will work. Anyone have some suggestions on wheels?

nitro rustler wheels seem to work well as do the hpi 2.2 dish with a 12mm hex

any wheel will work with a little modification and different size hex... i would switch to its either 17 or 18mm hexes with buggy wheels then buy some sets of tires to test out.

So, how would I go about converting the hex? Do the 17mms just drop on?

just buy the size you want and they should snap on like the old ones or cover the old hex or you might have to screw them on. i believe redcat has a kit if you need. dont quote me on this though. i do know it is possible.

OK. Also, I've heard that they aren't very durable for jumping. Any comments on this?

only thing ive ever had trouble with on mine was the dogbones falling out when jumping. the other problems were just worn out. i fixed my problem with orings which i stated before... also the wing mount sometimes breaks if you land on it.

Well, I'm looking at CVDs along with all carbon shock towers and top plate, plus aluminum wing mounts and arms with hub carriers. Will this have much chance of breaking? Also, can I get an aluminum or carbon chassis anywhere?

i bent a couple shock towers too... look into that. there is a vehicle that hpi makes that is very similar, maybe look into that for abetter chasis. mine was aluminum and was strong. im not sure about yours.

dont put a metal spur gear in... it will just transfer the stress to more expensive parts.. maybe your clutch bell is warped.. is the 47 tooth the big gear or the smaller of the two? i cant remember. it could be the area you run too. sand and little rocks are hard on spur gears. there is many things that can cause a spur gear to wear out, rocks, sand, bad gear mesh, warped gear, misalinged trannsmission or motor, or just alot of stress on it, like too much power or a really bad drag when turning the wheels.

So from what I have read, the Tornado S30 is a descent starter car? I am very BEW to Nitro... infact, I ordered my first car 2 days ago... and it is the Tornado S30.... price was a big factor in my choosing it.... I figured, Since I have't been in to RC in about 20 years and NEVER had anything to do with gas much less nitro... better to spend less to figure out if I like it or not.... but seems most of what I read is that it isnt a bad little starter vehicle.... any advice on what spare parts I should get ahold of to keep on hand asside from dog bones spurr gears?

Front lower A Arms, glow plugs, Patience. It is a good starter vehicle and should teach you a lot about glow  without breaking the bank.
If you keep after the maintenance you should have little trouble but it certainly is a learning curve.
Dont run it lean, use fuel with enough oil (I prefer 20%) .
Adjust the ball joints often, they loosen and the driveshafts fall out.
Tighten the nuts and bolts but not the one on top the servo saver cause it will bind.

Thanks alot jeffie... I appreciate the opinion... My car should be here hopefully by wednesday... then I can start on the engine break in..... On  you tube... Ali Shamnonm supposed to be an expert on redcat, said he recommends running 30% ... They sell that at my local hobby shop, do you think that would be ok or would 20% or so be better?
