The curve at the bottom edge of the piston, in picture two, goes towards the carb as long as you haven't removed the piston from the con rod this would be the correct orientation.

i don't kno wat da problem iz but, da metal 4 my engine keeps coming lose. itz da one dat da pull start screws into. i put lock tight on it and everything. but once the car starts up, it runs until da plate becomes loose and den the car cuts off. the screws all seem fine, none seem to be bad. plus they all screw in tightly without a problem.

Hey guys, I just received my car today and I'm in the middle of upgrading the clutch parts as listed on page one.

I have a few questions:

1. How do I remove the spur gears/bearings from the stock clutch bell?
2. Do I put locktite on the clutch bell before putting the spur gears on?
3. What do I use to grease/lube the bearings?

I was hoping to get the car broken in and running this weekend so any help is appreciated.

1. just push them out easily with a small screw driver

2. you put loctite on the screw that holds the clutch bell on

3. i use a fine point lube pen, usually its a teflon lube, has a small point so you can get in tight spots

I have a question. I put the HPI three peice set up one mine. I burned all three out in a matter of 3/4 gallon. The spurs were fine until the end when the pinions finally went. Is there a 17/22 that's hardened steel that is a direct fit? If so, do they last longer than the ali gears? Also, can I take new spurs to a machine shop and have them make some outta steel.

Thanks for the help.

i have rean my hpi 3 piece setup and the color is a little warn on them but it seems to be ok, i use it on my torndado and lightning, make sure you dont have the gear mesh too tight, there is an hpi 13/18 tooth clutch bell that is steel than needs a few extras to use, i use it on the tsunami because of the low gearing, it would make the tornado a low end monster, i posted what you need in the compaitble parts thread sticky on the top under tornado

Ehroof, Thanks.. I'll try those again, but if anything, I had the mesh too loose. Rolling the car back and stopping, the gears would spin for 1-2 seconds. I tried this after the paper mesh. Both times... toast. The buggies kis=ck a** though.. otherwise. It's really cool that everyone is here to help. Otherwise noobs (like me) would ditch.. Thanks man C-ya.. You need to check out FLA sometimes... LOL
