ok guys, here it goes. im absolutly brand new to rc. (newbie). i have owned a tornado bb for exactly 1 week. got it on trade. ran it couple of times and now seem to be hooked!!. with that said, my probl is that when i go to use the pull start, it seems to pull very heavey and hard. took the plug out and it pulls easier but still not smooth. almost like too much compression. pulls about an inch or two then catches and becomes hard again. busted a knuckle already, bled all over the place, not cool!! did i break something already?
no jumps, no accidents (yet), just pavement. any ideas?? please help.

im a newb to but it sounds like u hydro locked it. i do it all the time when i am tryin to start it. u need to take the plug out and turn it over and pull the start. its kinda hard to do upside down but u can do it. or u can do what i do and just put ur ignitor on it and pull so it burns the bit that is in the chamber till it starts

thanks for the reply!! ill give it a try in a few mins and let you know. i was thinking that maybe the one way bearing was bad or worse yet the motor was shot. i took off the pull start and it seemed ok. im pretty new to this so when something goes wrong im thinking the worst.

I've found the easiest thing to do is heat the motor up to about 175-200 with a hair dryier. After that 2-3 pulls and she fires right up. But yeah if you over prime the motor she'll flood on you. Never fun but it happens.

When it gets tight at the top of the cylinder, thats normal. these engines use the "pinch" at the top and if you dont have any pinch, you dont have a running motor

I knew the stock servos were no good from the start and I wasn't going to take any chances. So I ordered some Traxxas 2075 waterproof servos. They give me 125oz of torque and no problems. As soon as I got my buggy the stocks came off and went right in the trash. I heard alot of bad things about them. Anyway, what kind of Hitec servo did you throw in there?

I will tell you this though. My throttle servo is pretty twitchie. I thought it had something to do with the failsafe, so I disconnected it and it didn't help. I have read that sometime when the Linkage is close to the motor head, it'll give issues like this. They say to put some heat shrink tub on it but that didnt help much either. Oh well, it is what it is. Good luck dude.

I lost my wheel hex and the pin that holds it in place on the wheel axle. I thought when i ordered the wheel hex it would come with the pin but i guess not. does anybody know the part # for the pin or do i have to order the whole axle? thanx

I looked in the manual but there is no part number next to the pin. But I dont know what assembly you would have to buy to get that pin. I'll take a look on redcat's/exceed's website to see if I can't find it. I'll post later, have to run out with the wife. Wal-Mart fun fun

Those things can be a real pain, if you can't find them at redcat, HPI pins off the RS4 will work just the same. A little tip for you is to put some silicone glue on the pin before you insert it. This way it won't fall out when you remove you wheel but well come off easly when pulled or pushed on.

I in all my years have never seen such a thing. The starter shaft broke in three diff. places. This came out of the 3.3 in the shockwave. Thank the lord I had a spare 2.5 to throw in it till I get it cleaned up and fixed.

Dont bash Traxxas, we have three of them in this house and they all hold up very well. Only broken parts are due to us doing stupid
**** to them.

It seems to me that your a rookie and have no clue so I'll take that comment with a grain of salt. As for the shaft its an O.S. that is not even a year old.

Haha i was just messin, you know like when something happens to a non-gm car, its always because its not a gm lol, but only because im a chevy (gm) guy. So basically its saying that i like redcaty more. Sure traxxas is a good brand, i dont like them personally, but it doesnt matter, cause thats my opinion haha.
