here you go, with a little patience you can do it or he can, if there is a problem, just come here and we will help.

1. upgrade your 2 speed clutch bell to: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001135084&I=LXCLR2&P=K + http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001135084&I=LXDHM0&P=K + http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001135084&I=LXCLR9&P=K
you may need to widdle away a little of the upper plate post so the gears clear it

2.upgrade to this clutch spring traxxas 4146x : http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVSEARCH=4146x&FVPROFIL=++&search3=Go

Those parts will take some time to install, but as long as you keep up with which screw goes where either you or your son could do it. A trick that helps me is to print out a parts explosion of the vehicle and place the parts and screws I take out to install stuff on their designated areas on the explosion. It helps me keep track of things, and keep in mind that you will have to remove other stuff in order to reach the clutch bell.

Alright thanks for the advice. This thing seems like it'd be fun to add to the collection. What kind of jumps can it take?

ehroof -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/15/2007 3:48 AM)

it jumps nice, it doesnt land like a truck since its lower to the ground but its just real cool.

daveschutt -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/16/2007 2:06 AM)

I AM PLANNING ON UPGRADING MY CLUTCH BELL SO I AM NOT ALWAYS SMOKING GEARS. I AM ALSO PUTTING ON DIRT HAWG 2 TIRES WICH MEASURE 3.5 INCHES IN DIAMATER. WOULD I BE BETTER WITH THE 13-18 OR 17-22 CLUTCH BELL?

CRAZYDAVE

ehroof -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/16/2007 2:13 AM)

the 13/18 will give ou much more low end but make sure you get the needle bearing and bushings for it too.

daveschutt -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/16/2007 4:37 AM)

THANK YOU!!!! I FOUND THAT IF YOU PUT SOME WHITE GREASE ON THE GEARS EVERY OTHER RUN IT WILL MAKE THEM LAST A LOT LONGER. ANOTHER TRANNY PROBLEM... THE CAR (TORNADO XP) WONT SHIFT!!!! I TRIED LOOSNING THE SCREW BUT MADE IT TOO LOOSE AND IT FELL OUT. ANY SUGGESTIONS????

ehroof -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/16/2007 4:48 AM)

you need to get a new 2 speed shifter, i did the same thing: http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/servlet/the-125/2-Way-Drive-Clutch/Detail

frekbynature2002 -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/18/2007 12:56 AM)

is there a different, better cooling head I can use on the VX .18

daveschutt -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/18/2007 1:36 AM)

I JUST BOUGHT A BUNCH OF 47T SPUR GEARS FOR MY XP , I WENT TO PUT THEM ON AND NOTICED THE CUTOUT FOR THE ONE WAY BEARING IS MUCH BIGGER. THE PART #S WERE CORRECT ON THE BAG AND THE GEARS WERE THE SAME SIZE. DID REDCAT CHANGE THESE. THE ONE WAY BEARING ON MY CAR APPEARS TO BE A 10MM AND THE CUTOUT ON THE NEW GEARS APPEARS TO BE 14MM. MY SUPPLIER INSISTS THESE ARE THE CORRECT PARTS. HELP!!!

daveschutt -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/18/2007 6:05 AM)

Thanks for the parts information to order. Will the parts come with some type of instructions on how to install them or will my son just be able to figure it out??

ehroof -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/18/2007 5:54 PM)

he should be able to figure it out, if not just drop a line here on the forum or email me and i will help you guys out.

daveschutt -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/18/2007 7:03 PM)

ORCHARD PARK IS ABOUT 20 MILES SOUTH OF BUFFALO, WHERES HOWARD BEACH

ehroof -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/18/2007 7:16 PM)

nyc, queens/brooklyn border

daveschutt -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/18/2007 7:43 PM)

ehroof, i am thinking about buying a aluminium exhaust pipe. Does it make a difference or does it just give it a cool sound.

ehroof -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/18/2007 7:46 PM)

hey dave, it makes a big difference and it sounds better. you should change the header too.

daveschutt -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/18/2007 9:49 PM)

ehroof, Do you suggest the redcat aluminium exhaust pipe pipe? If not what pipe and header do you suggest. Thank you for your mad ninja skills!!!![sm=bananahead.gif]

ehroof -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/18/2007 10:35 PM)

lol, i use this pipe and i am very happy with it, you can spend alot more money if you want but i find this to be a good setup.

Hpi header: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBTB5&P=ML

Team associated pipe: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBMH0&P=7

daveschutt -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/19/2007 5:57 AM)

do i need the header or will the associated pipe work with the stock header

frekbynature2002 -> RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread (3/22/2007 11:02 PM)

The car is not that responsive to the transmitter, I changed all the batteries so could the crystals be going bad. I also can't get it to run right like before, it either sounds like its flooding or not enough fuel. I tried adjusting but I have to adjust while I'm running it, longer I run it I have to make adjustments to be able to keep running.
