i thought going with traxxas would make it easier getting parts from my lhs but i still find myself ordering everything from the web. its much cheaper on the web. goto your lhs and look at parts and then go on the web and look at parts youll notice a huge diff in price. if you want good redcat parts cheaper and great shipping rates try www.rufaster.com i got all my parts from that site they also ship very fast like 2-3 days if you are in the USA. eddie from himotousa.com is also good to deal with. if you order from eddie dont just order 1 item he has standard shipping rates. brett you should try building a custom truck buy a junker from ebay and make it your own the rc10gt frame is a good 1 to start with. cheap lite and lots of room to play with and tons of parts on ebay.

How is rufater.coms shipping rates? I've found that some of these websites can really sock it to ya on the shipping. Redcat is pretty reasonable. But they do take a while.

rufaster is pretty good. If you go to place an order and the rates are too high you can always contact them and see what you can work out. They are pretty responsive to email

All the ones that you listed are great buggies (almost all 1/8 buggies are good!) but I'd recommend an RXB-1 since I'm a Himoto guy.

Tower has some pretty cool bodies that I know would work. They are hpi bodies. They have a neon green one that is pretty cool. I would like to get my hands on one of those older bodies though. They definetly look better than the one I have. Almost any body would look better than the one I have. Anyway, I broke the brace in the front that the front hinge pins go through to connect the a-arms to the diff. It's about an inch and a half long, and has a notch that fits into the chasis. I've been looking on redcats site for a replacement, and it's not on there. I don't even know what it called. Some help would be appreciated.

hey man Im super sure that the hpi mt2 brace is the exact same as the tsunami one. If I still had my nami I would check it out for you but I can almost promiss you there the same. Hope that makes it easyer to get another one.

Is the only difference between the RXB-1 and the torpeda the engine size?

No, the RXT-1 has a newer and much better design and is overall a much better buggy. Firebird will know more than I do about it but the RXT-1 is stronger and has better handling. Its a great buggy if your going to race or bash. I would definitely recommend it over the Torpeda. Even though it has a smaller engine it is faster if not just as fast.

the buggies are totally different...the hurricane has kingpin style front suspension that needs attention but is easily fixed..it has the pesky e-clips...the rxb-1 has pivot ball suspinsion, captured hinge pins, imo the plastic is far better, hex head screws throughout the buggy, lay down steering servo, more upgrades, is alot lighter... in a nut shell its just better.. the rxb handles better, jumps better, easier to maintain and is more durable....

DONT GET ME WRONG, I have 2 of the other buggies and still enjoy them, they are nice buggies to play with and bash, they will take a beating..they were my first rc's, and if I was to do it all over again I would still have bought them

also I have a friend that has a cen and a ofna lx...he was floored when he seen my first buggy (hurricane/torpeda) and asked how much I payed for it....I was running my buggy on the makeshift track I run on one day and he and his dad stopped and watched me...keep in mind I was new to rc and he has had a couple yrs experience...both he and his dad told me not only was my buggy faster but they thought it was holding up better then his buggies...and that was my hurricane/torpeda...and I can get around the track even better with my rxb-1....

I cannot say anything bad about the redcat hurricane, its a good buggy.. but to me the rxb is just flat better....you asked...theres your answer...

Oh, I'm going to. I've been waiting on my lhs to get some in. I haven't felt like ordering it off the web, I don't want to pay $10 shipping on a $15 part.

Actually I'm going to my lhs today and see what they got, they told me this weekend that they were getting a shipment in today. If they don't have one I like, I'm gonna get them to get me the aluminum one for the mt2. They'll order it if they don't have it in stock, and I won't have to pay them shipping. Now time for a question. How important is it to leave my piston at BDC when I'm not running it or when I start it? I've never left it or started it from BDC and I've never had a problem starting it.

The reason you want to leave it at BDC is so that when everything cools the pinch remains the same. If the piston is left at the top of the stroke when the engine cools its the sleeve will only constrict to the size of the piston. The more this happens the less the pinch will be and the engine will loose power.
Hope that made sense

This is a quote from Rc Driver
"Piston and Sleeve Dynamics

Our nitro engines are a lapped piston and sleeve design. This means that the bore becomes gradually smaller as the piston reaches the top of the sleeve. This gives you that pinch at TDC (Top Dead Center). The pinch is required to keep the piston and sleeve sealed when the engine gets up to temp. That is why itÂ’s important to get the engine up to 190 when breaking-in. If you donÂ’t, the sleeve will never expand and the piston will wear out faster. The piston will end up wearing down as a result of friction, tapering the head of the piston to match the size of the sleeve. When the engine finally does get up to temp and the sleeve expands, the piston is now too small, allowing for blow by. That means the cylinder pressure blows by the piston down to the crankcase, and it will cause the engine to overheat and stall. Unfortunately, the only way to remedy this is a complete rebuild with new piston, sleeve and connecting rod."

Thanks keith that makes perfect sense. Well I hope I haven't caused any damage. I don't think I have, like I said, it's not giving me any problems starting or running. Oh well if it does decide to go then that will just give me a reason to get the O.S .18 cvrx.......lol.......but of course it's gotta last me at least until I get my 1/8 buggy....lol.....

Hey eminent, do you know if the front bumper on the mt2 will fit the nami? I'd like to get one and possibly put some LEDs on it.

No it wont. But the bumper from the volcano (I think) fits it and it has two holes that are perfect for leds.

But will the volcano bumper extend out from the body? From the pictures I've seen, the bumper sits behind the body on the volcano.

It depends where the body mount holes are. I was able to squeeze the body back behind the bumper without having to drill new holes. When I change the body Ill make sure the hole line up correctly.
