Ok, I have seen on bladecprepair.com....to adjust your blades to zero pitch with motors unhooked from 4 in 1, throttle trim all the way down, throttle stick centered (50%) and idle switch up. If you are doing inverts and such.....i see the need for this.

On http://www.lenlutz.com/pages/blade_tuning.html his shows adjusting the pitch with servos centered only.

quote:

Its time to adjust the pitch on the blades.

ARE YOUR SERVOS CENTERED?

Make sure all the servos are centered before proceeding.

1. Level the flybar.
2. Adjust the linkages from the blade grips to the rotor head frame so that the blades are level and have "0" pitch as shown.

Which is better for a n00b just wanting to hover and maybe practice side in and tail in??

Always unplug the motor before you mess with anything on the head..... it hurts if it spins up unexpectedly.

You want zero pitch at mid throttle, with idle up even if you aren't planning on using it because that also sets a slightly positive blade angle for non-idle up. The two setups depend on each other. There's a difference between centering the servos, and setting blade angle for zero. You should follow both, center your servos, and adjust the blades for zero in idle-up.

Setup is everything on these little beasties.

You want to have zero pitch and servo centered at half stick. This is extremely important if you are using a heli with CCPM. If the servos are off center the joint movement of the servos may not raise or lower the swash plate where it is always level.

We have been using a very simple method for setting up pitch on Kyle's CP. The idea came from our flying buddy Chucky Teeter.
I should add that this method works best for linear pitch curves where you want the positive pitch to be the same as the negative pitch. We prefer this curve in all flight modes on all of our helicopters.
First make sure your radio is in "Throttle Hold" or that the main motor is unplugged.
Put the throttle stick at the 50% position
Hold the heli vertical by the tail boom and have the fly bar parallel to the boom.
If the blades are truly at 0 degrees, they will be in the same plane.

Next move the throttle stick from one end to the other to make sure that you have the same pitch on the top as on the bottom. If everything was set properly during the mechanical set up, you will have the same pitch at both ends.
The actual number of degrees of pitch is not the important. What is important is how the heli flies. If it bogs at the extremes then I cut the pitch travel and try it again. We use the same method for the T-Rex
Thats it. Simple but works!

I don't know about being more accurate but it certainly is the easiest method that I have ever used.

wow that is a little better than my method I hold my heli parallel and swing the blades both to forward and back positions to check the pitch individually but your version should be even easier than that.
