sounds to me like you might as well just go with a new motor, cause the new parts you'll need are about $60, with the new rod sleeve and piston. and the engine is $100 with free shipping. also wade would have to charge labor and all, so it would prolly come out pretty close to the price of a new engine. but im sure wade can fix it, but if he does, you'll need to break in the motor. if ya dont, the same thing will happen. but if he fixes it, and you break it in, then you can get plenty more life out of it.

well the price is gonna be high, and its gonna be really close to what you'll pay for a new engine.but its a very new engine, and i'd hate to see it wasted.what would you do with an old shot engine??? so i think it goes both ways, would you wanna waste an engine, or would you wanna soend as much money as a new engine getting your engine fixed? Im sure that wade could easily fix it, it doesn't sound like too hard a job, but the parts are expensive though. there like the main parts that were riuned. i will say it one more time, after you get a new engine or if wade fixes it, you must break it in, okay?

I'd say the only thing you'll salvage is the block & crankshaft. Unless you're extremely lucky I'd bet there's damage to the piston and sleeve as well as the conrod. Of course thats a worse case scenario. If that has happend its probably worth buying a new as you say, with labour and parts, it start to add up costing as much as a new engine. I suppose if you got the very same engine though, you could at least use the dead one for spare block & crankshaft.
Unfortunately when an engine is a write off it basically becomes a paper weight. Thats unfortnately the way it goes I am affraid.

ROTF, ya I could do that
He was saying in the chatroom night before that there were no scratches on the sleeve, So I'm hopping we can salvage the piston and sleeve. probablly get away with a new conrod, and if it needs a crank shaft I have one from an engine that only had two tanks run through it before I decided to start micing and blue printing parts to make on the lathe and mill if we need them. Probablly not going to charge any labor though, plus we'll break in the engine the rest of the way and make sure it's runnning good before sending it back.

Oh man, sorry to hear that bud. Next time use the US Postal Service. Priority mail 2-3 delivery is $4.05 up to 1 lb.
No worries tho, Wade is a good guy and I'm sure he'll take care of you.

Well everyone i don't know if you guys have heard but yeah.. The engine is a no go... Wade said that it would practically be about $120.00 just to repair and tune it... I swear i wish i would of just threw that engine out far far away.... Anywazs i am not gion to rebuild that engine no way.... THis really blows,.... ALot... I have to now save some money up so i can buy that engine that you guys were talken about... I can't believe the ride that ihave been on... Really sucks i really don't want to get away from nitro... But when it rains it poors.... Well i think by next week i will be able to afford that new engine... But i really hate to wait witch sucks but i guess i have too...

So the engine Os.18 svrx is probably goin to be my next investment and aswell they have a used hellfire just broke in they said that the father returned it because it had too much power for his son for 400.00 I think that i am goin to get that but practice with my redcat first... I just hope that i don't blow up that motor too... But now i know to not run it too lean and that it is better rich so that the engine doesn't red line all the time.... Learning and spending money as i goo...

Hope you have a great day because i am just haveing a great great day now that i found out that i blow my motor... <(' ; ')>

Your right about it being expensive and you can't even use those blown engines for boat anchors either

a traxxas should bolt right in, the .18 os cvrx bolts where the 2.5 goes and the .18 redcat goes so they should be the same. I am waiting for the 1/8 buggy to come out from redcat otherwise i would have gotten the ofna mutilator.

the muggy is awesome hey. Way better than the hellfire RTR. If you get a hellfire get the SS kit as it far superior to the RTR version. The RTR version has plastic chassis braces which to me seem ilogical. Anyway as an RTR, the muggy is great. Super fast engine and it handles a bit of a hammering on the jumps. the only thing I have heard from my friends is that the stock clutch is farily weak and is pretty much the first hopup needed. But what truck/buggy doesn;t need hopups? Well the mugen prospec is one but geez ya pay for it!

good luck with your new engine. also, if you were to get a traxxas motor, YOU MUST break it in properly, dont rush. the traxxas motors have a special way of break in and if you break it in any other way your engine will have less power and speed and it wont last as long. i had a traxxas and they said over and over again how important it is to break it in their way not the other ways. and i was new to the hobby when i got it. so i let the hobby shop break it in for me. they didn't do it right. they did the kind of break in that an engine like these redcat ones need. my engine died in 7 months and only 3 gallons. sorry for scaring you, lol. but the traxxas motors are powerful though. i dont think they last too long, but you'll kill with one of those in a volcano. also about the new car, i would get the muggy, it looks soo cool. hope this helps. sorry bout the motor. better luck next time.

I'm not flaming you nitro but I seriously doubt traxxis has come up with an engine specific breakin procedure . As far as I know, there is NO one true best of method to run in a an engine. Every man & his dog has a different theory on the subject but there are definately prefered methods. The most popular is the heat cycle method. Not sure what procedure traxxis use but I have seen some slightly questionable "how to" videos from them and it scared me a little. Anyways like I said, everyone has a different theory hey.

yeah, i guess so , but still, i had a traxxas and from my own experience i can tell you that they weren't kidding when they said break it in their way. it did sound funny to me too, that traxxas motors need a special break in but its true. they even send with every car a set up dvd, that includes engine break in. ehroof has the nitro rustler, just like i did. even he will tell you that traxxas has a special break in. but if i still had a trx 2.5, i would break it in how they say, just ta be safe.

actually mozzy, traxxas supplies you with a dvd to watch on the break in cycle they want you to do on their engine. Its a 5 step process. Its almost the same as a heat cycle method.

it really scared me though. i mean, they are strict about thier engines and products. its hard on a newbie. i mean it feels like one wrong move and it was $400 down the drain.

yeah Ehroof that may have been the vid I was shown. Anyway the bit I thought was slightly odd was traxxis suggesting to use WD40 as an after run oil. Dont know about you guys but that stuff aint going anywhere near the insides of my engine!

Yeah nitro for newb its all very overhwhelming. You are not alone on that one hey! Been there done that. Just remember patience is the key. Its a steep learning curve but ultimately a fast curve. Once you understand the basics it basically all down hill from there.

wd40 is a little scary to put in an engine but it would displace moisture and there are lubricants in it. The break in procedure is pretty good though but you need alot of patience.

Wd-40 is primarly Fish Oil. I know a while back I scorned using WD-40 as afterrun oil, but I have been proven wrong a few times since then by a couple customers that use it religiously as after run oil. They claim that they have never had to rebuild an engine, never had one rust or gum up from sitting for long periods of time. They swear by it, I've always used 3 in 1 oil, but my cars never sit for more than two or three days, so as for long period sitting I couldn't say for sure how it would be, I imagine it would be just fine. I usee WD-40 on my lathe ways and on my mill ways I don't have any rust on my lathe or mill so I imagine it would be fine inside your engine. Anyway I think to each his own as long as your using oil of some sort.
