I just installed one and was concerned, like you, about drilling a hole in my engine. It was actually quite simple. Buy a drill and tap set of the correct size as stated in the directions. Remove the back plate. Drill the hole in the center of the back plate, tap it, then put the nipple in. I filed of any of the nipple sticking inside the engine just to make sure it did not rub against any engine parts. I also used high temp gasket material to make sure there was no pressure leak around the threads. Replace the back plate on the engine and your ready to go.

Hi Guys, how much did you need to fiddle with your low end needle valve when you installed the VP30? I want to run one on my OS 61 SF And a tuned pipe. It has the regular OS two needle carb type 7L and I was just curious if you had to lean the low speed needle valve or richen it up a little. My engine allready has the hole tapped in the back plate but it plugged with a screw right now but I do have the nipple for it.

I have two Mega Perry Pumper carbs that are going on two ASP engines one is a 108 that has just been rebuilt and will have a tuned pipe on it. The second is a new 91 with a stock muffler. I will be running a VP30 pump on each engine. You would not believe the size of the inlet of the Perry Mega Pump carb its twice the size of the OS. The 108 is going to really rock.
Thanks Viper

If you use the Perry VP 20 oscillating pump you won't need to do any drilling. I use one on my OS 160 fx ,they work great and are simple to install. I use this pump in combination with the pitts muffler pressure and a check valve and it made my engine come ALIVE. I only had to adjust the low end just a little to the lean side to compensate for all the advancing fuel.
