Sorry about this but I just have some basic questions on each of these, here are some general ones... Are these good racing buggies? Which one is fastest? Which one has the best handling? Are there any noted defects within these truggies such as very breakable parts, etc.? I may have some further questions later, but for now this is all.. Thanks ahead of time!!

The truggies I want are the CEN Racing Matrix Arena TR, Robitronics Mantis, and Thunder Tiger ST-1.

Get the Matrix Tr Arena from amainhobbies. The RTR comes with high torque servos and a descent digital AM radio. The truggy is built well and handles like no other.
Weak spots are the steering arm, rear toe block and the clutch shoes. Cen makes the CNC upgrades to replace them and they wont cost you too much. Engine starts easy, idles as it should, holds it's tune and delivers alot of power. Consider it, you will be happy if you choose the Cen Truggy.

Good luck!!

i've got the mantis and i think for the money it's a great buy. you get extra clutch bell's,knuckles, ackerman plate, hump pack and charger ect. the only downsides i've seen so for are the servo's and the tire foams are a little too small for the tires. build quality is fantastic and the engine is great. with a little setup it DOES run with all the big name truggy's out there. alot of people are afraid to go with a company that is not big or very well known yet but don't let that stop you. the mantis is in my opinion the best buy out for a rtr truggy. here's mine.

yes the thunder tiger and it didn't handle well for me. and i won't run or drive or own anything cen. why no cen? because i've seen there durability issues(all drivetrain) in person on the matrix buggy and i'll never own a cen vehicle. i don't care what people say this is MY opinion like it or not. don't get me wrong i'll give something new a chance(hell i've got the mantis and that's new) but from what i've seen in person from cen i won't be running one anytime soon IF ever.

ah there it is 4wheels...you were just blasting someone on a different post about how they think there brand is the real deal...and that they weren't being unbiased...well in rc you do get what you pay for....they mantis may be great for you but it sitll is a new rig and someone else without 1/8 scale knowledge may struggle with it ...you said in another post that the mantis was real good with a little setup,,,,not everyone can get setup spot on the first couple of tries and that can frustrate them....trust me i know i was a hellfire owner, loved it but it was a bear to setup and maintain for a race to race basis, felt like i was always changing things to get it close to the last good weekend, ttr st-1 love it, still have one for short tight tracks, not much to setup and change, diff fluids, shock fluids and a few shock and steering mods, lsp pro had 3 of them, great platform, takes a little time to get it right but man it loves to fly, jammin raced against them real fast, good jumpers and a little awkward on tight tracks, kyosho rtr not real impressed for durability but nimble out of the box, str version is tough to beat very solid overall....but my main point is that a cheap platform may be a great way to get in to class, but you will pay just as much or more in replacement parts by going with a lower price version....there is a reason why traxxas doesn't have a truggy or buggy out yet, good plastic is what makes a reliable rig, and so far the only overpriced truggy out there was the hellfire, it will go down as the biggest moneypit ever.. so don't order one off of one loyal guys opinion..check all of the pinned sections for each brand and read all of their issues, also check truggyracers.com if there was a truggy built ever it is on that forum, not to bash this thread but this site can get biased and turn into a pissing match....

obviously my opinion on what i like doesn't matter but someone else's does?. everyone will have different opinion's on every single rc know to man. i'm getting real sick of people talking trash about someone else's opinion. IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT I LIKE KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. i like the mantis for what it is an entry level truggy for everyday people NOT PRO RACER'S or those that think they are. i only talk bad about what i have seen in person and from MY OWN PERSONAL EXSPERIENCE.

i also try not to push people into something that is going to cost them an arm and a leg to only find out that they don't like it and loose their butt trying to sell it. also NOTHING and i mean NOTHING run's perfect out of the box no matter how much money you pay. they ALL need some setup work which makes this hobby fun or atleast until you get into pissing matches like this.

you are right 4wheels....but your experience with rc is what makes the mantis work for you...not everyone knows the rtr pitfalls that are out there like you do from experience, i learned alot of lessons from the hellfire experience, to all of the hpi fans that have a savage if you want to stay loyal buy the ss version and set it up your way...the cen truggy looks pretty solid i have no experience with it, but to say i would never buy another hpi because of my hellfire experience is crazy...hpi has kept alot of people in the hobby that were first time traxxas owners....you opinion is very valid but in reality questions like which rtr is the best should never be allowed on a forum of this size, to many opinions and emotions get involved and unbiased answers get thrown out there, i happy you have success with the mantis and have great part support that may not be the case everywhere, so i will drop off the post and wish him luck in his pursuit and encourage him to read alot of posts and see what issues people are having with all of them maybe not a select few.....and 4wheels relax you are right is just a hobby, and like most hobbies it never is cheap if you continue to do it.

THANKS your right not everybody has been in rc that long and needs to learn somewhere. that's one of the pitfall's of online forums sometimes you don't really know who your talking to or about and things can get lost in translation real quick. some of us have learned the HARDWAY (me for one traxxas ouch!!!) and now know some(not all) of the things to look out for. like on the cen all i keep seeing and hearing is the diffs(even cen say's to put kyosho diffs in it) and the diff. cups wear out real fast, ect, ect. so to the original poster yes look at all the truggy's,get all the opinion's and idea's and see what fit's the bill for you. the best thing anyone can do in rc is RESEARCH!!!!! . good luck with whatever you get.

well once again people don't like to hear the truth. i've seen the diffs go out and the spur gears break. go to cen or a cen forum and you will see that cen even tells their racers to use kyosho diffs. don't beleive me look it up and THEN tell me i'm wrong. the cen has some problems and untill they get them fixed i won't be buying one THAT is MY opinon like it or not.
