I have heard terribile things of the belt drive... I was looking in to getting it, but thought again once i saw all the complaints of missing parts, wrong parts, broken parts and bad instruction guides.
No reason you shouldnt make it work though : )
Deffinately give me a shout when you get yours (or if you have it already, when you set it up) because i would be interested in following suit due to the success of our CNC upgrade.

Definitely will do,
l already have the upgrade kit... it's not the full kit ...just the basic stuff.
If I can locate a doner bird then I'll leave this one in one piece (I really need to fly it more to finish (dial in) the tail motor).
Things like the tail motor project...I won't post until I've proven it works...If I can't prove it, I don't post it.
The v2 head was different because I came in kinda after the fact on it.
I'm doing the belt project partly because of what you had found.
Lot's of bad rep attached to the belt upgrade. Missing/wrong/broken parts is fault of vendors.
But the rest of it...I have my doubts if the heli deserves it...It may..
It wouldn't be the first time that something was so poorly engineered that it was only good as scrap.
But, I'm going to find out... I'll let you know...

I flew my heli today, and it went great. Very stable flight. I ended up just having to move the arms positioning up one notch so that it starts higher when its flat. Its not by much and I don't think it will affect the performance (except for the better from where it was before, bottoming out on the screws).

One thing that is confusing me is: my left and right controls keep getting mixed up. I will turn it on, and everything will be fine, then the next time they will be backwards. THen if i try switching the DIP #2 switch they will be proper again... Then later it went to be opposite once more, and i put the DIP switch back.

Do you know what could be causing this? Could it be that my antenna is coiled around the landing gear?

You're gonna have glitches if you unwrap part_of/The antenna from the skid...

That is really weird... I don't think I've ever heard of that problem before...Hmmm..
Thats one to mabe ask over on the main thread...jtspin and E_Heli seems to be most familiar with the stock electronics....

Glad yours is flying smooth... Hopefully that grimlin will go away and all will be well...
Mine was super smooth the little I did fly...I'm looking forward to more...

I flew again today, all went well, no glitches.
Maybe it just got a little confused earlier.
I really like how the CNC head turned out. At first i wasn't so sure when it seemingly didn't fit etc, but I would recommend it now to anyone who is willing to put a bit of effort into it to get it started. Ill be willing (NY_Rebel too i bet) to help ya get your stock heli fitted with the V2 CNC.

cmavr8: you said that when it is UNCOILED it could cause glitches? i have mine coiled, but i cut it in about 1/2 because i thought it was too long, so now theres about 1/2 length of it coiled around the same way on the landing skid.

Now you can understand why I'm such a strong proponent of the CNC...I haven't done any other upgrade(with the exception of a li-po) that had the same level of impact on my flying. I will always help when ever I can....
Speaking of li-po... you should consider one...not too much..a 1300mah 8C (what I used) is good for these birds...don't go over 1300mah 10C

Yea I'm really looking into a 10C 1200 mAH lipo. Would you suggest upgrading to a BL at the same time? Or would it be fine to stay with brush for a while?

Also, after noticing your set up with the battery out front, could that work with the stock Rx sitting down behind the motor, and a lipo where the Rx comes?

The stock motors are good...The tail motor will give up first....my original tail motor lasted about 6 months...

The stock Rx has to remain standing on its side in order for the gyro to work...

I used one of the little pancake li-po standing beside the Rx for a while... but had to add weight to the back to balance..

The setup I have now is near perfect balance...but as I've said ... i don't know that it even qualifies as a 22e anymore

The 4in1 has to stand on its side, but can it be "turned"? I mean, as you look at the heli from up high, can you turn the 4in1 90 degrees? Will it continue working? if yes we could move it behind the two rear servos.

Chris,
I believe you are correct, as long as it's side up it should work fine back there...Good idea...

That is a good idea, then I would get space for a battery up front. This would be good if i ever got metal tail mount or even two heat sinks back there weighing it down.
Have either of you tried it?

I haven't tried it... but I'm sure it could open up some possibilities as far as weight distribution.

Sp0on..I don't know if you've read it on the other thread but most of us that have had our 22's for a while are running an extended tail boom.
In theory..it takes some of the strain off of the tail motor, since it doesn't have to work as hard it will last a bit longer...
