I was thinking about it. My wife wonders why people fly model airplanes. Ultimately she says they either crash them, sell or trade them, or let them sit in the garage forever. Her best suggestion was for me to put a black 30-gallon plastic garbage bag in the very back in the fuselage as I build. She says that way, I would always have a bag to pick up all the balsa pieces the next time I crashed my plane into smithereens.

I am not really making fun of wives really, it is just that without them, we would go all through life thinking we were perfect. Enjoy your flying guys and girls!

Yes, it is a cemetery and I'll bet there are very few complaints at that flying field about the noise level. It is an ill wind that blows no one any good. If we can find a patch of ground, relatively free of power lines and plane-eating trees, it is as close to heaven as some of us will ever get. Flying is so much fun, I am surprised it has not yet been banned.

Isn't it tough dodging the tombstones when landing and taking off?

A couple years ago, I had a bad summer. I was smacking planes into the dirt left and right. My friends started calling me "Crash". It was bad.

I finally started carrying a black trashbag with my in the flight box. I'd pull it out at the start of the day and stuff it in my back pocket. Let it hang out and flap in the breeze. Everyone thought it was hilarious.

I quit crashing planes. At least for awhile.

My wife used to hassle me about planes. I told her I could take up drinking and hanging out at the bar with all the single girls, if that would make her happy. That shut her up. Made me happy.

I''m not really an airplane pilot; but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Probably, but the taller ones would make great pylons!

That second pic looks like some guy puked an airplane
My wife likes the models much better than full scale bikes and cars. They keep me at home too.

My wife of 33 years tells me "You and those model airplanes...it's a sickness, just a sickness!" I tell her that it is better than alcoholism to which she replies, "Yes, but it is still a sickness!" Maybe she is right, I have been flying rc over 30 years and the thought of quitting never enters my mind...

You can call it a harmless addiction, a compulsive disorder, a juvenile trait, anything you want, I just call it plane fun. Pun intended
In my experience this hobby (sport) gives folks a good break from other less important things. Remember all this living is not a destination, but rather a trip. So the moral of the story is to smell the nitromethane along the way.
