(***NOTE* drinking is fun, flying is fun but one should never attempt to drink and fly, it can be very dangerous to you and those around you...as drink flying kills nearly half a person every year!...with that in mind i bid you fare well!)

I'd hate be THAT half a person.

I have a friend that worked at a plant which produced mylar packing for consumer goods (bacon packages, etc. ). He gave us a 4 foot long by 12 diameter roll of wrapping. One side was bright silver the other was gold. Anyway it had adhesive properties. So when we wrapped christmas gifts with it (it doesn't shrink) but we sealed the seams with the monokote iron. Drove the relatives nuts.

I must be lucky. My wife wants me to go fly. If I have a bad day at work and come home in a bad mood. She tells me I need to go the field and get a flight in or go out the shop and sand something.

David

Similar situation here. Problem is the other night was the first time she was ever in the shop while I was covering an airplane. She just watched for a while and then said, "I don't ever want to hear you say you don't know how to wrap Christmas presents again."

I think I'm screwed.

When my brother first got going, I stopped over to ask him if he wanted to go to the LHS with me to look at the new planes that just came in...
My sister-in-law sez..."What do you need another airplane for, you've already got one"...

(ONE!!! )

That was about 3 years and a couple dozen planes ago...heh heh heh...little did she know...

Mine's pretty cool too. The last trip to the hobby shop she picked out a Midwest Steerman and a Sig Fazer. Last year it was a Phoenix Decathlon. She doesn't pick out all my planes. I bought a GP Chipmunk this spring All by myself. Unfortunately I had not done my homework and had purchased a Saito 125. I told her the 125 was too light for the Chipmunk so we also bought a Saito 150. She says she wants to build kits, but has no interest in flying. I've got a bench set up for her. It should be a lot of fun.

My girlfriend tells all my flying buddies wives that is better to support us and the hobby than having us drinking and exposing us to all the cute single girls out there, she's my caller too and always enjoys when we go flying.

My ex used to say the very well known "you love airplanes more than me", my question, how is it they all say that and they do not know each other to learn the expression?? (twilight zone)

My wife says, "all you ever do is build/fly airplanes." To which I respond, "well, it beats drinking and chasing women!!" Hey, wait a minute......

Been flying and building since 1934. Wife person knew that before we were married. She only likes clothes and diamonds and her closet is full so she doesn't complain. Easy way out is to ask if she needs another ring, bracelet or necklace. Say "Let's go shopping". After she can't find anything to wear stop at the LHS. She won't dare say no. After all you offered her something.

Hey, my wife is the one responsible for my habit in the first place. She was getting a gift for someone else at a LHS, and came home and told me about the RC Airplanes in the store, and how she thought I might like to check it out. I did, and she was right. So, she has only herself to blame when I come home smelling like nitro exhaust. And for the 8 planes in my basement shop. Whenever I'm asked how many I have, my standard response is, "not enough"!

"Why do you need more than one plane?"

"why do you prefer flying than going to mothers?"

"WHAT,,,,you paid how much for that engine!!" (after telling her one quarter of the REAL price).

My wife knows the actual price of my hobby. I wonder just how many of you are fooling yourselves into thinking that they don't know. After all just how easy is it to google Saito 150???
