Here is another similar version to the 601 sold in the UK but not as well specified.

Not necessarily as most MKII's seem to be ok.

Run a few basic tests on old and new battery packs. (NiCad & Nims) Check they charge to their capacity or 10-15% over with charger stating the word FULL on completion. Try a couple of cycles to test the discharge program. Don't worry if the charger gets hot during this process it is quite normal.

Charge a Lipo at 0.5C initially on the Balance program and check all cells are within 0.02 volts of each other once full. Make sure the finished voltage is within 1% of the normal packs total.
A good tip if the charger is going slightly over voltage is to charge on the 3.6 Volt per cell program. On a 3 cell pack you would expect around 12.3 volts once charged rather than the normal 12.6
You won't notice any real performance differance with the slightly lower voltage.

i have just bought a RC power 601 AD (similar to 601BC but without balance output) without knowing it is a Bantam copycat.
however it seems to work fine on my 3s2p li-ion cell, AA 1.2V Nimh cell and 12V Lead acid battery that i have.

any one know this charger has a mkI and mkII version? i am curious to know becuase i hear many problem on 601BC mkI, i hope i have a 601AD MKII if there is one.

i use it mostly to charge li-ion cell -11.1V 7200mAh. if this charger goes wrong, the Li-ion pack may explode.

Thanks

Can you sleep with it in the same room? (even if your room is 40ft long)

If yes it's an MKII! (from what they say...)

I unfortunately have the MKI.. (and small rooms)

this RC-power 601AD that i have do come with temp sensor, so charging can be stopped if temp is higher then the setting.

one thing not working is the monitoring software which link charger to pc, the driver and software install fine, usb hardware can be detected fine, but just that when charging or discharging, the graph in pc did not show any prograss reading. any one knowing how to use this please help. is it a mulfunction unit? the manual never mention how to use the software which is e-station version1.0

any one please help!!!

i have install the driver and software like the istruction given, it did not work, also found the discharge only max at 0.9A any setting at or below 0.9A is accurate but any thing above 0.9A setting will not work, it only discharge at 0.9 if set at 1A or 1.5 or 2.

this RC Power 601AD only work to certain extend, atleast i found 2 things does not work already, may be will find more later on, any one has any other problem with this charger?

If it's not a laptop you MUST do following next order:

1) Install USB driver
2) reboot
3) Install monitor sw (e-Station)
4) reboot

you should be looking at graphs during charge/discharge time.

Regards, Javier.

Anyone know what the default peak settings are for nicads and nimh, I have found my nimh getting very hot, going to try settings someone suggested but would be interested to know what the factory defaults were.

Hi All you Battery Charging Gurus,

This is my 1st ever post on this RC Universe site.. What a great website.. Wish I had found this forum before taking the plunge.. have just skimmed thru these threads, Great Info.. Thanks!

Couple really easy .. simpleton questions:

I'm a nubie getting back into RC Sailplanes after years of non flying, I'd never heard of LiPo's.. and I bought this blue RC Power 601BC from a Hong Kong outfit assuming as i read the cryptic ad, that it would allow me to charge up to 14 of my current +8.4v 7XAAA 800 mAh NiMH batterys at once. Ha- Fat Chance.. I see now that the 601BC only charges one battery at a time, and I have also ordered a plane that has a Turborix 11.1v 12c 1300mAh 3Cell Rechargeable Lipo Battery...so want to use it for balancing later.. I guess that's why there are two connectors on LiPo batterys.. .. one with multi-pins to monitor the cells, and the other to feed the Motor and Receiver /servos right?..

Moreover, I see the 601BC has no DC or AC Input Power Adapter to feed it.. (or temp Probe) any tips on how to best feed the 601BC power Input so i can do two things.. Deep discharge, and then re-charge my NiMH Batteries.. in multiple cycles at Home plugged into an 110VAC source like a PC Power Supply's CD-ROM or HD drive DC connector.. can i hopefully connect a battery and walk away from it while it cycles .. How hot is too Hot while charging a NiMH , or a LiPo?

or out in the field .. clipped onto my +12vdc Car Battery via Extension / Jumper cable or some other pre-charged up LeadAcid? battery i guess I'd lug around to get it near my home PC if its needed ? Is there recommended battery I can hike around up a hills and recharge with? or is buying the second LiPo and pre-charging it at home far better?

And a final question.. I installed the USB driver s/w but was not sure if the 601BC needs DC INput Power available& ON and connected BEFORE I plug in the USB connector at the computer (so I didn't yet) .. or will the 601 interface run stand alone with a USB Input alone and still light up the LCD Panel and work (with nothing loading the DC Charge output ?

The manual is so bad i really cant understand most of it.. and i don't think it addresses these fundamental questions at all..

Thanks In advance.. JimS

I am in Hong Kong for a few days and I bought this charger at the street market for $80 US. After reading all these posts I am a little concerned. How can you tell if it is a MKII? I have looked all over it and can't find anything relating to what version it is.
