That only leaves a very small contact area for glue though, don't you want to glue "taller" shear webs side-on onto the spars?

Howdie gents, mr. cox with a I beam spar the load is on the wood not on the glue joint. this is one of the strongest ways to build a wing. the strongest is a box spar. this is allso the lightest , less wood less glue. it takes an accurate fit to get the best results, but well worth the effort.

Yes, I see what you mean (I was sort of thinking out lowd before) a tight fit must be very important though.

Cewl! Never seen paint and marking done like that before.

How about some data on the skis? How wide & the length, do they move up and down, or just point forward? How good do they work for the plane? Am thinking about using them here, just don't know much about them.

Your model looks like a quick flier!

VERY NICE photos on how you do things. The younger folks could take some lessons from you. All those table saw, band saw and router 'fixtures' are great to see. Slap some wood in it, fasten it down, 'zip' and dump the parts out. You could almost start making kits!! Norm Abrams has competition from you.... his fixtures are all nice and purty and painted and stained, but yours are 'down and dirty' and you "Git Er Done"!! Thanks for sharing.

Howdie gents . Remby , sorry its not paint. I coverd it all with iron on covering. I drew the templet, then cut it out then laid the covering on a pice of glass that I misted with windex, then taped the templet over the covering. I'll give more on this when I get that far. I gave some info on the skies in an other thread( how much wind ) I'll do a post on the skies and give a lot more info. Yuu thanks. I thought about painting them or staining them but like you said "get er done." I built the jigs from my scrap box, and its been to cold (-20) to paint in the shop.
