That AP engine appears Not to have a glow plug. Does it take a standard plug, or will a Nelson plug fit? I like the nice long cowl; it adds to the 'slip' after the spinner pokes a hole. Nice work.

Howied gents. Yuu thank you. Yes I like a cowled engine to, Its a shame that the pic don't do it justice. The insturchions for the AP 0.09 says to use a short standerd plug. The one that I got for it is the fox short. I'll start the break in, in a few weeks. hkbii

Howdie gents. Well back to work on zip. I had to run a few planes throu the shop for repaires. I coverd the cowle with polester fab, and epoxie. One more light sanding and then on to the landing gear. I,m thinking about wheel pants. I should be able to use the torque rod tube for the skies to hold the pants in place.hkbii.

Please show those torque rod hook-up for the skis. I was out at the flying field yesterday, and while there is little snow remaining, I hope to fly next winter on snow. Belly-flopping is getting 'old'.

Howdie gents. Yuu heres some pic of the skies on my mustang. I wrap and solder a piece of brass tubing to landing gear legg. then bend the torque rod so that it will slide into the brass tube and towards the front of the skie. then bend the torque rod to go throu the skie and then put a wheel coller on the end of it. Ill get mor pic as I build the gear for this bird. hope this helps. khbii.

Hey everybody,

I just had to get on here and brag a bit. The designer and builder of zip happens to be one of my best friends. So over the winter, he kept asking me to go flying with him. But I was without a plane, or room to build one. So he hooked me up with the very first zip ever built, and I must say, it's an awsome plane. At slower speeds I fly it on high rates, and as the speed increases I reduce the rates. Now if you want a wild ride, to the point your plane rolls about 20 times a second, you simply flip to high rates at high speed, but be prepared. I can't do justice in words on how much fun it is to fly, so you'll just have to get one and experience it for yourself, you won't be dissappointed. As for me, I can't thank Keith enough for such an awsome plane.

Mark

Howdie gents. It's been a very busy spring. when the Ice melts I get swamped with work so theres not much shop time. I did get out to the shop last night and got some work done on the landing gear. I made a jig to bend the landing gear and started to make a set for this zip. In the pic, you can see the dowle pins are inserted as the wire is bent around each corner.

Howdie gents. After the wire is bent I then take a pice of alum, wing strut and cut it down the small side then cut it to fit the gear. Then it goes in the vice and is fitted to the wire and then the mounting holes ar drilled (they will be mounted with nylon bolts). hkbii.

Howdie gents. now its time to put all the pices to gather. useing wet or dry sandpaper sand the legs where they will be wraped with copper wire. Start at the bend of the rear support and wrap a few turns of the copper wire around the main gear leg and the rear support. now place the brass tube on the gear and tightly wrap with the copper wire.hkbii.

Howdie gents, ikura Im happy to hear that you like the plane. The one that he has is the speed version, 34 inch wing and the speed canopy. the one Im working on now is the sport version, 37 inch wing and sport canopy. The speed Zip has a higher wing loading so the stall speed is higher. She still flys nice and slow but is most comfortable over 20mph. the sport version should fly slower and be more responsive at very low air speed.hkbii.

Thanks for posting that photo of the LG making fixture. That's what I need for the 'Powerhouse' I'm trying to make... My advice; never 'Retire'. "She whom must be obeyed" will just find MORE things that need to be done. Right, Ray?

Hkbii, is it still possible to get plans for the sport zip that you are building? I am very interested in this plane and building is the only thing I am interested in nowadays(tired of ARFs). Would be much appreciated.

Yea I also am interested in building a zip too. I am just getting to 1/2a and this looks like a really neat plane.

Howdie gents, I built this Zip off of the plans. I am going to build a set of wheel pants for her, The wheel pants are not on the plans yet but the rest is on them now. I am working on a construction manual. I dont know how long it will take to put togather a complete kit but the plane can be built from the plans by an experienced builder. I think that I got all the necessary information on them. The U.P.S store is the only place in town that I know of that can print them and it cost .50 sqr. foot. Runs about $10.00 a set. Friday I'm going to have five sets printed.I will only ship them in a tube.(I cant bring myshelf to fold them.) If you whant a set now pm me so I can find out how much the shipping will be. I will let these five go at cost to see If you think they are any good. I have shown them to some of the flyers up here and they said that the thought that they could build it off the plans. All I ask is your honest opinion. hkbii.
