i want ot buy a four star 120 because i love my 40 so much. The only problem is money. My 40 has a os 52 surpass which cost me 180 bucks. I love four strokes but i know a 120 or 150 four stroke will cost me atleast 300 bucks. I think i want to go with the GMS 120 from tower hobbies for about 120 bucks. Has any one used this engine before with the 120? what i really want to know is what does the the site mean buy "High Tourque"? do i need 50 Oz of tourqe or 150? Would S3010's work or can i use a cheeper servo? If you have a buget minded 120 that you would like to share please post the engine and raido used plus total price paid as well as pictures.

The GMS 1.20 engine doesn't come with a muffler. You can buy the muffler for another $20, but that makes the GMS 1.20 engine with muffler only $5 cheaper than the Super Tigre G2300 1.40 engine. The Super Tigre G2300 would have gobs of power and includes the muffler for $149.99.

Kangke USA has their SK 1.10 and 1.30 glow engines available for $119.99 and $139.99 respectively. These are engineered for higher torque rather than peak RPM, they're a good choice for flying with a larger prop and even the smaller 1.10 engine would fly the Four Star 1.20 well.

Unfortunately, the Magnum XL 120AR II didn't make the spring engine sale, so it's still priced at $199.99 right now.

With regard to high torque servos, you'll probably want to do your shopping at Hobby People.net. They carry the Cirrus line of radio accessories. The Cirrus CS701BB is a high torque servo delivering 126oz/inch at 4.8v for only $19.99; they also move 60 degrees in .15 seconds with 4.8v, so they're quick, too. The CS701BB is rated at 144oz/in and .13 seconds for 60 degrees if a 6.0 volt receiver battery is used.

If there's a better deal on a stupidly high torque servo, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Hopefully a $119 engine and $19.99 servos will fit your budget. If it were my plane, I'd probably spend a little extra on the SK 1.30 or the Super Tigre G2300 engine. Good luck.

I've got a 4*120 myself and it has a very old (pre surpass) Os120 4 stroke on it. Great combination but if I were to choose a different engine the ST2300 would be it.

I have one that had a Saito `120 in it. Was real boring to fly. Needs at least a 180 in a 4 stroker.

The glow engine will drink lot of money with the fuel consuming, Ryobi 31cc conversion should be better, it's almost designed for this plane, the narrow body and high torque just be fit in the plane.

Go over to the gas engine site and take A look at some of the engines that are now offered. Just the price of glow fuel these days has made A lot of us change over. If it's only glow then the SK is A great engine for the price if broken in correctly.
Money is always A problem but most the time you get what you pay for in the long run. Go take A look at Servo City and see if they have any good sales. I ended up getting my servos for half price when HT came out with there new servos.
Seek and you may find!!
Good luck!!!!!!!!!

I have Four Star 120. I had a OS120 Surpass 111 on it and it flew it great. I decided to use the OS 120 on another plane. I put a GMS 120 on my Four Star 120 with reservations. I was totally pleased with the performance. The GMS had plenty of power and the transistion was great. I think you would be pleased with the GMS 120.
