Coming along slowly. After a good cleaning with simple green, it's not too bad.

hi there, trying to decide between the 18ss and the T3.0 based engines for the RS4 evo3 . How do they compare?

Nitro mt2 with the g3.0 has a speed of 45mph
The nitro mt2 with the 18ss claims 46+ mph..
Check out hpi website..
http://www.hpiracing.com/kitinfo/10410/ this is the 3.0
http://www.hpiracing.com/kitinfo/10445/ this is the 18ss

I know you are talking about evo3 in your case but the engines are the same for onroad or offroad
They are both .18 cubic motors so i think astetics is up to the owner....They also make a 18ss with a purple heatsink head...I prefer the mean look of the black head..
Hope this helps you out

Oh ya...The 3.0 is a sg crank and the 18ss is standard threaded crank..If you don't have a sg style clutch they can get spendy.

I accidentally drove my rs4 on road car on to dirt and now it doesn't stop. It won't even slow down. I started it up and it just floors it by itself. Does any one know why that's happening?

Hopefully it's something minor. Check the linkages like urpoopoo said, to see if the carb closes to the idle setting. Maybe check the clutchbell to see if there's any debris wedged in there, locking the clutchbell and flywheel together.

How old is the engine? Was your off-road misadventure extended or brief? An engine leak could cause idling anomalies too.

The 18ss engine is better...at high rpm it produces more hp than the T3.0 does, it revs higher and develops the power in a more linear way. And it's slightly lighter.

My new rs4, i had to make the body look better than just a plain stock looking mustang. Props to HPI for including a nice decal sheet with the RTR. It now has a team infinity pipe and upgraded tires and wheels.
