If you would read my lips instead of trying to dig a deeper hole you would know that I said it is rated at 3 and has a flashpoint of 95 degrees. You said it had a flashpoint of 110 degrees if it did it would have a rating of 2 not the 3 it is rated at.

a 3 is Liquids and solids that can be ignited under almost all ambient conditions.

a 2 is Must be moderately heated or exposed to relatively high temperature before ignition can occur.

110° isn't moderately heated nor a relatively high temperature. lots of places in this world have ambient temps of 110° F NITRO IS FLAMMABLE

kc

If you would bother to read the standard in its entireity you would know that anything with a flash point above 100 is rated as a 2, below a 3. You said it had a flash point of 110 degrees, I said if it did it wouldn't be rated as flammable, which it is. If it had a flash point above 100 it would be rated as 2 which is called combustable, not flammable.

Well I finally had a few minutes today and I called Morgan Fuels since they wouldn't answer my fax. I was told that their web site is WRONG and that their Pro Pattern Fuels contain 20 % oil and the nitro content corresponds with the label on the jug ie. 20%, 25%, 30% or 40%.

She said that they were in the process of changing their website and that it might take awhile.

Oh well the thread got pretty entertaining towards the end anyway

This may now be moot. I called my former next door neighbor in Enterprise. He works EMS for a company in town. The big tornado that hit the highschool was actually 2 tornados that joined at the Enterprise airport and proceeded to cross the railroad tracks through the town center, and then to the highschool. Morgan fuels is right in the middle of the path it took, near the train tracks. It was a half mile wide at one point....

blw, on another thread I asked KC36330 who lives in Enterprise how bad the tornado hit him. This is his reply. Note the edit:

"just got power restored, hopefully it'll stay on. I've seen first hand probably 20 tornado's in my lifetime and this was one of the loudest and very near the biggest I've ever seen. i lucked out and only got some tree breakage and wind damage but 2 blocks over it's completely leveled. the news seams to only be showing the high school (which now has confirmed fatalities, 9 as of now) but allot of the rest of town is much worse, i haven't heard if Morgan fuel made it through or not, they've completely sealed off down town and we are as of 5pm local time under curfew. worst part is it's starting to get nasty again, winds picking up and thunder and lightening picking back up.

kc

EDIT: Morgan didn't get much damage so fuel costs should stay the same "

I've lost an hour of sleep reading this post and disecting information. Despite the near rabid back and forth between a couple of members, a lot of good information can be sorted and gathered. I've been flying cool power for a couple of years and have not had any of the issues mentioned here, but will continue to watch. Plus that I love a good argument. Hopefully you two could still fly together on a Saturday afternoon!

Hopefully all of you around Enterprise are getting by. Must have been horrible.

I had no idea when I started this thread what would come out of it. But like you I got a lot of info from it and even got my question answered I will continue to use Cool Power fuel. After 20+ years I see no reason to switch.

Living in a part of the world that has never seen a tornado and in my lifetime ( 61 years ) only 2 moderately bad hurricanes I can only imagine the devastation one of these things can create I too hope everyone in Enterprise can pull together and carry on.

My first tornado was in RED WING ,MN. as a kid. The town said don't worry a tornado won't climb a hill. Red Wing is surrounded by 400 FT bluffs. Well the warnings went out and I was working at a Union 76 gas station. We were standing in the doorway when we saw a full grown Oak tree -roots and dirt - blowing down the middle of HWY 61 at about 60 MPH. Good thing we had a basement. The trouble was the tornado went down the Mississippi river and the bluffs kept it funneled thur downtown. Our massive Union 76 ball sign wound up about a mile down the road and took out the parts store we used for car parts. I now live in tornado alley Indiana and have seen many twisters and tornatos. Thank god I live atop a hill because I've had 2 tornados come directly at my house only to jump up over the hill about 1/4 mile away , only to land on flat ground and keep on going. If you haven't been thur one ---your not missing a thing-------------

KC,

I lived in Foxhill and 2 places on Dixie Dr. Good to hear that you made it okay. I went to Columbus, Ga. today and saw tornado damage a couple of blocks from the hobby shop there. Roof blown off of a large hotel, some other roofs damaged, and a drug store with one wall collapsed and the roof fallen into the store. Power lines were still being repaired.

most of the north end of Dixie drive (along 27 north) is gone but allot of people came to town today to actually help rather then just look(still had plenty of lookers too) and cause traffic accidents and the clean up accomplished today was impressive. i did manage to make it out to the flying field this afternoon after missing my timing and ended up 3 cars back from the road block as Bush left, I'd hoped I'd of missed that but traffic was a bit cramped so i had to wait about 20 min on his motorcade to get out of the way then off to the field i went.

Wow, that was something to read! All I know is that last year I stopped using XP fuel and started using Cool Power. I went from mid flight engine cut outs (with XP) to full flights with good idle and smoother performance. Going to the Hobby Wholesale to buy Cool Power buy the case for this years flying. Been running Cool Power in my ABC and Ringed engines and did not see any differences. May see a difference years down the road but hope to have updated by then. Remember to have fun, it's a hobby not work.

What is XP fuel ? And did you change nitro content at the same time?
