thas hot.. now get a dummy doll. but how is the bike balance??

dummy doll in due time, namely when I can drive this thing better. The balance is good no problem with that at all. These vids don't show it but the bike keeps itself balanced just by forward movement. Its an ongoing project that I just had to try, and I am enjoying every minute of it.
Chris.

Start with a blow up doll... would work kinda like an airbag when you crash... would look funny as hell too! LMAO

Hi!

Is it asking too much if you could get a clearer pic of the steering setup?

I bought a pocket bike for conversion last friday before seeing your thread here and on RCGroups. The steering is what's giving me more headaches, but I got to the solution you see on the attached photo. I'm using a 21Kg/cm Multiplex MS-20BB servo for braking and another similar one for steering; oly the accelerator is a standard servo.

Thank you

Francisco I will try to get some pics later but here is a hint....I have not used any shocks for steering. just a simple single 4-40 push rod with dual springs and wheel collars that fit the rod to compress the springs to allow the bike to lean when a command is given to turn. Remember the bike will only lean, to turn you use your throttle/brakes. These conversions need to be run in a very large smooth (no pot holes and stay away from drains) paved area at least till you get used to it.
on mine I use ...servos, Rear Brake 1/4 scale HS700BB, Steering DS821 standard Digital, Throttle, DS821, Ignition Kill HS-81 micro.
Yes the bike works fine using 1 standard size servo for steering.
Chris.

Francisco, here are the pics you requested, I hope you find them useful and get some ideas from them in order to complete your conversion. The pics that show the steering servo were taken from underneath the bike looking up.....Please feel free to post in this thread your conversion and don't forget the pics
Questions, comments always welcome.
Have you seen my videos I have posted on the bike? if not here is the link once again for one of them.
An_idea_becomes_reality
there are others on there just do a search for r/c motorcyle.
Chris.

WOW, those pics have been of great help!
Thank you so much for them and for your tips Chris!
I was going to use the jumbo servo since it had (barely) the torque to move the steering wth the bike static. But in a dynamic situation it really is different.

BTW, how about going for a 1/18 scalextric conversion now? I have one on the works too :P

Thank you once again!

Your welcome, I am just happy that someone else is in process of converting a pocket bike for r/c. How far along are you? any pics ?
Chris.

I'll try to post some photos later on.
Right now I have the bike stripped and have the accelerator servo in place.
I'm still undecided on using rear braking only or front braking thru hydraulic brakes (these will have to be adapted to mine regarding mounting hole spacing, so I'll probably stick with cable operation).
I'm going to use a GWS S11FHP slim servo for steering, as it has around 5~6Kg-cm torque (roughly 68Lbs-in).

I am using cable operation myself but only on the rear brake, I have removed the front one entirely (left the disc on in case I want to try it with both in the future ) and the bike works nicely just like this.
Can't wait to see those pics.
Chris.

As requested.

The last two photos show the location of the main servo supports/radio tray.

PM sent

Oh, the accelerator servo is held by the two plastic tie-wraps just to help reinforce the screw connections.
