Hi,
I am a total newb, purchased a used nitro MT this past fall, haven't had much run time due to winter and maintenance issues.

My first inclination when buying fuel is to buy quarts, to minimize the amount of fuel I have on hand, and to not have a gallon jug aging on me.

I don't race and due to kids, weather, chores, I don't run all that often. BUT when the weather is warmer I could easily burn a quart or two in an afternoon. So my usage will always be in streaks.

So I'm curious, for a low-volume user like myself, should I go ahead and purchase the gallon jugs to save $, or better to stick to the quart size containers?

Or maybe, should I go with gallons and pour off my open gallons into smaller, tighter containers? I think this may introduce more chances for humidity, etc, than if I use the gallon jug?

Just wondering what the more experienced people are doing.

Thanks.

Buy the gallon and keep it tightly capped. If stored anywhere but the trunk of your car, and kept tightly capped, it will last literally decades.

I love how the mail order places tell you hazmat shipping is free if ordered in quarts... but then a quart is $8.00. That works out to $32.00 per gallon.(!)

Just my opinion.

Good idea about gallons. Consider when the gallon gets down halfway, or even initially, get some HDPE (high density polyethylene) CLEAN bottles and fill them up and tighten the cap and even tape around it with electrical tape. It will not leak. The idea is to keep any storage vessel you put your fuel in as full as possible, with very little air room at the top, maybe an ounce or two. Store them in the dark at room temperature for best results.
