A friend shipped me a go-cart engine that he had never used. It is a McCulloch MC 49-C. I think it was made in the '60's and looks to be in good condition. He said he never ran it for the 25 years he owned it. I clamped it to my welding table and after a good prime, fired it up. There is no muffler, just a G.E.M. 180 deg. header so I kept the run time short due to the noise. There is very little free info on the web about this engine. There are manuals available for a fee. My main question is about the displacement. Is it a 49cc engine? Any other info would be appreciated.

What you describe was known as the "mini Mac" Go Cart Engine. we used them as a single and a twin back in the 60's. I will look thru all my stuff and see what I still have left. I know I had headgaskets and other parts for it. Alot of people used a 90 degree "megaphone" as exhaust butwe played with tuned pipes.. I might even have a manual on it.
I'll look at moms and see whats left.

Thanks for the info. An exploded view and parts list were sent with the engine. I was interested in the specs and correct sparkplug. I'm not sure the one that is in it is the right one.
