Thanks guys for this informative thread about the EF YAK 88,

I have a DA-50 engine on my EF YAK. I am still feeling I have to struggle when I pull out of a hover. I am using a menz 23x8 prop.

The DA-50 manual says it can support 24x8 prop. Anyone tried it?

And what about the 22x8? Would it provide better pull out of hover?

Thanks in advance!

Im currently building my first gas plane on this ef yak 88'' model..Im mounting a DLE 55 rite now..
Im having a bit of problem since it needs to be mounted inverted i take it, the throttle arm sticks out the top right side and needs to be on the bottom left for a st8 shot.
It looks like i could mount it where its at, by turning the servo arm arround and having a major downhill angle from the throttle arm to the servo arm, but looks like it would still work..

Is this a real bad idea, or any one have any remedies, or can tell me what they did?

I also rotated the carb, which also makes it alot easier to clean the internal filter. Just take care removing the carb to avoid damaging the gasket.

Thank you, should i rotate the block underneath it to? other wise the tube doesnt reach without binding, and its hard to tell but looks like the block wouldnt matter what way.

I think I just rotated the carb; nothing else. But may have done both now that you mention it. Both tube nipples (for the wahlbro pump are on the same side. If you are concerned about binding, you could use a longer piece of tygon instead of the inplace tube.

You must be the guy that I'm messaging on Youtube. How's it going? I think I rotated the carb and block. I also flipped the throttle arm so it's 180 degrees from original position.

Well the maiden was shaky!! was on high rates during take off..I dont think ill ever maiden on high rates again!
My brother was acting silly in the background and also filming with my cell phone for his first time
It wasnt on film but not too long after was able to dial it in a bit and get off some nice fourpoint rolls, hands off inverted flight and mayb even had no coupling in the the knife edges. But i had quite a bit of altitude to really tell for sure
In the end i was seing one hell of a plane shaping up
I did have to add 1 click right aileron and 8 clicks of elevator- it was diving nose diving pretty hard at about 75 percent throttle from regular level flight.. Am i nose heavy more than likly?

Sounds nose heavy. Rule of thumb is to trim to level flight when upright at 1/2 to 2/3 throttle, then invert and see how quickly it dives. At neutral CG the plane will fly upright or inverted without loosing altitude. If your like some, including me, you will want to maintain a somewhat nose heavy plane to faciiltate landings. At my current CG, mine takes a very small amount of elevator to keep from dropping when inverted. So it is slightly nose heavy. If neutral, the plane may have a tendancy to balloon or slow bounce when landing. As you likely know, if it completely stalls at the height of a slow bounce it may pancake and sustain significant damage. If it appear to be stalling, blip the throttle to maintain needed lift, after the flair. I usually move my batteries back about an 1/8 inch at a time until the CG feels right for my style of flying.

Incidentally, I have three rates, low, high and 3D. I use low for landing, high for general flight, knife edge etc. and 3D for extreme manuevers.

Good luck! You will love this plane when you get it dialed in!

@Slow and Steady thank you for the reply..I forgot to update this post.come to find out i was 180 out on my expo settings on my radio..I had previously always used spectrum stuff and was unaware of the negative expo settings on my aurora. So in essence some of my controls were 80 percent more sensitive rather than dulled..Lol what a lesson .Funny thing is if theses one lesson ive gotten in life in my 35 years it has been to never assume.Well there i go again..i assumed all radios were on a positive expo curve only and there was no such thing as making it more sensitive via radio..It almost cost me..Second flights were so much easier on the heart!
